Trump on retweeting a crazy bin Laden theory: “That was a retweet, I’ll put it out there. People can decide for themselves.”
Well. I think we’re all now clear to retweet crazy shit about Trump and his supporters, and let people decide, right? Use #RetweetLikeTrump when you do.
Hey @mercedesschlapp. I have no basis to know if this is true. But I’ll just put it out there and let people decide for themselves. Right?

Just putting it out there and letting people decide for themselves. #RetweetLikeTrump
Just putting it out here for people to decide for themselves @RudyGiuliani. I actually think this one is self-authenticating. Bassets always look sad and you always look tired.

And now, a brief interlude of down-throat shoving. No, not in a porn way. In a rhetorical way! Any other way is, at most, subtext.

/1
/2 Do not be shoving things down Mr. Wood's throat when he turns on the teevee if you please. Target children some other way!

/3 Will doesn't want laws shoved down his throat. Will, have you tried reading them online?

Hey great talk Roddy. Good job not committing any crimes against humanity on the way to the podium.

Also, Rod, that's a remarkably stupid tweet. Let's leave aside practice and reality -- in which no honest person would think that prosecutors "don't indict people unless the evidence proves them guilty of a crime beyond any reasonable doubt." Let's talk about the actual rules.
/3 Let's start by looking at the rules that governed you until recently, memorialized in the United States Attorney's Manual.

Frivolous, performative defamation suits are a huge GOP thing so it's hardly a surprise that frivolous performative indecency prosecutions would become a thing.

/2 There is no plausible argument that the Netflix series is outside First Amendment protection. You'd have to overturn a couple of generations of law to do it.

But the people pursuing it don't care. They don't care about the First Amemdment, despite constantly citing it.
/3 No, the people pursuing this sort of thing want you to choose between rolling over and ignoring the rule of law, or asserting the rule of law so they can hoot and point and shout "YOU SUPPORT CHILD PORNOGRAPHY HA HA."

It's big drink o'clock
The firm has moved partner happy hour to Zoom, which we now do more faithfully than we ever did in person.
No, we don't invite associates or special counsel to partner happy hour, on the grounds that they are happier not drinking with us.

By the way, California (where Scott Adams, speaking broadly, exists) has a one-year statute of limitations for defamation, and it looks as if he’s blown the statue since his last frivolous defamation threat in September 2019. /1
/2 This threat led to the exchange where he attempted to explain to me what defamation law must be, based on inexorable logic and his superior intellect, and wound up blocking me, as one does and as is his right.
/3 Anyway Adams no doubt would say that his defamation threats were actually a highly sophisticated form of MENSA-trained mind control, or something. He is very very smart.

Okay. I know this seems exciting, but this is a big boy STATE felony, not a big-boy FEDERAL felony.
/2 and no, being charged with state felonies in two states does not equate to one federal felony. They’re not legos.
