Hi, I read biblical Hebrew. Exodus 21 doesn't say that. Common trope from armchair leftists.
Part of the problem here is the King James is a little vague, so even many evangelicals get tripped up here. "mischief" refers to the child, not to the woman
It wouldn't make sense in context of the law for this to merely differentiate between manslaughter and murder, since manslaughter was also a capital offense, but manslaughter had recourse to the cities of refuge and murder didn't
the more or less literal hebrew is "men strive, hit woman, fruit go from her, if no evil happen, pay fine, if evil happen, eye for eye, life for life"
that doesn't make sense if applied to the woman, it's about what happens to the child, since if the woman was killed, that's already covered under other laws
it would also be strange to merely apply a fine to assaulting a pregnant or non-pregnant woman, which would naturally be life for life, eye for eye

the fine is for causing a premature birth, even if the birth still resulted in a healthy child
in some sense this would be an ongoing assessment, which is precisely why the verses are framed that way - if the child lived for 2 weeks, then died, the offender is blamed entirely for its death

again, those verses don't make sense if you think it's talking about the woman

the tree of the knowledge of good and evil vs the tree of life; we gained the former by sin and lost the latter

now we are condemned to the results, the excessive multiplication of words and fake equivocal concepts used to deceive and control the weak
now a flaming sword guards the way to the tree of life, it burns us and cuts us if we attempt to steal what we lost the right to partake in; but through the regeneration of the sacraments man is vouchsafed a glimpse of the road back, to "be perfect" as he is perfect
we mourn for our sin, our failures, our insufficiencies; but we rejoice in suffering them and the chastening that strengthens us; our mourning turns to the joy of the pursuit of virtue and the restoration of nature such that we can truly partake of that life

I have never been this organized about it, but this is roughly how I've programmed myself to eat/shop for food for myself

morning is coffee + whole milk as creamer + whey + carrots or other veg Image
i add to this as social situations indicate, i don't like being silly "health nut" identity, people shouldn't have to hear about your diet quirks; also leaves space for some alcohol at night, some pleasure before bed w/ ice cream or whatnot
notice carbs or other extremely energy dense foods are left out (eggs OK) for the most part, or obtained through reconstituted grains (rice) which has bulk factor, or potato, which although very high in energy is also very satisfying and very inexpensive

never overpay for carbs
