Thread of PROBLEMATIC things 8TS has NOT apologized for. [Updated] ImageImage
1. All/most members of 8TS singing the N word; no apologies were made for this incident from any member.
R/\/\ vaguely referenced his use of the N word in the past, but the other members have yet to comment.
2. J!m!n used the Korean equivalent of the N word to describe how Jvng00k looks when tanned. The other clips in this video show native Koreans defining this word & emphasizing how it’s derogatory/negative.
3. J!m!n told R/\/\ he looks like a Māori Chief as an insult. The Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, and no one has apologized for this incident.
4. J-H0pe and Svga appropriating black hairstyles; there has been no comment from either member about the issue. ImageImage
5. Svga stereotyping Native American names + R/\/\ imitating a fake war cry while the other 8TS members laugh; no apologies have been made for this.
6. 8TS official account tweeting that a women should show skin in the winter because “that’s how men like it.” No apology made for the misogynistic tweet.

7. After R/\/\ supposedly changed his ways about CA, he went on to tweet a throwback picture of him doing CA in 2017. Has he really learned his lesson? Image
8. Jvngk00k, J!m!n, and V being classist; they chose to do a “cute beggar” concept while posing in the streets of Thailand. No apologies have been made for this disrespectful photoshoot.
9. 8TS official account, most likely R/\/\, called Tinashe’s music “rachet” and said he’s into “rachet” music these days. What makes her music ratchet? I would like to ask. ImageImage
10. 8TS member V showing a lack of appreciation for fans, accusing them of lying that it’s their birthday, showing little to no regard for their feelings. ImageImage
11. Svga involved in multiple controversies for Agvst D ‘D-2’ mixtape: thanks COVID-19 for allowing him to release music + sampled a Jim Jones speech who was known to target black lives and young children. reddit.com/r/kpop/comment…
11.1 Further explanation on why Svga’s Jim Jones’ sample is still problematic. His cult followers were predominantly black women and men. He led the mass murder-suicide of 900+ people, including some children.
This is who Svga gave a platform to. ImageImageImage
11.2 BH spoke up in place of Svga. This incident shows Svga’s amateur approach to hip-hop and rap, letting such samples be used in his music without educating himself first. Blame was put on the producer despite Svga knowing the sample was also there.
12. TW // rape, abuse, NSWF, graphic content
13. J!n complains that being recognized on the street as a celebratory is equivalent/worse than being homeless. No apology has been made for the insensitive comment. ImageImageImageImage
14. 8TS member V tells a fan her clothes are too “racy” (야하다) and then makes her promise that she will cover up a bit more next time. What exactly is racy about her clothes?
15. J!n being fat-phobic, says he wanted to call J!m!n a pig whenever he asked if he gained weight. J!m!n is known to have had many issues with his weight yet J!n continues to joke about him being fat.
16. 8TS member V wears a mask depicting Buddha and tries to be comical by adorning it with glasses. He can be seen in a video (see 16.1) mocking Buddhist gestures. This insensitive incident has never been apologized for. ImageImage
16.1 Video depicting 8TS member V stereotyping Buddhist culture while wearing a Buddha mask despite never claiming Buddhism as his own religion.
17. 8TS member V wearing sacred Qur’an scripture on his sleeve. It’s disrespectful and ignorant to wear such things especially as someone who does not practice Islamic faith. There have been no apologies from V or the company for this appropriation. Image
18. J!n mimicking Indian mudra & stereotypically bobbing his head to mock cultural dances. Armys are claiming it’s Buddhism as a defense however J!n has not declared any religious faith, therefore he is potentially mocking mudras in general. No apology has been made by J!n.
19. Svga referencing Kim Jung-Un, the infamous North Korean dictator, in song “If I Rule the World” saying he will become a dictator over hip-hop and “ban” all music besides their own, despite the fact that the genre was created by black artists. Image
19.1 Same song, R/\/\ says there’d be no racism in his ideal world but proceeds to mention only European, Asian, and Caucasian girls (white people mentioned twice). Also note only the reference to women and not people in general. Bizarre mindset. ImageImage
20. In the B@NGT@NTV update on August 21st, 2020, there was a teepee in the background which is an important symbol for the culture of Native American tribes and the lives of indigenous people. Using this as a background set is offensive and ignorant. 8TS members are complicit. Image
21. All members of 8TS helped to design this plastic water bottle of “premium deep ocean water” for sale at $21+ for profit in the midst of a global pandemic, not to forget the known damages that plastic waste contributes to climate change. ImageImage
22. The Ego MV depicts a scene w/ statues & texts from different religions. Pictured: a Buddha head, the Virgin Mary, & what many speculate to be a Quran with prayer beads. Mixing sacred items together is disrespectful to each religion involved. (cont’d) ImageImage
22.1 It considered disrespectful to purchase and display Buddha heads ornamentally. Additionally, a crystal ball, commonly associated with witchcraft/scrying, is also displayed on the table top which has been historically condemned by religious groups. (cont’d) ImageImage
22.2 It is clear that caution was not used when decorating this scene. Sacred symbols should not be used like this especially for aesthetics.
22.3 The next issue in J-H0pe’s solo MV ‘Ego’ is the edits of his face in place of various gods from different cultures.
1. Odin (Germanic)
2. Mithras (Indo-Iranian)
3. Jupiter (Roman)
4. Ra (Egyptian)
It is very disrespectful to deface deities from cultures you aren’t apart of. ImageImageImageImage
23. R/\/\’s speech while accepting an award for promoting US-Korean relations have angered many Chinese citizens. The speech “plays up to U.S. netizens, but the country played the role of aggressor in the war”; no clarifications have been made for R/\/\’s political statements. ImageImage
23.1 The issue has been taken very seriously considering brand advertisements in China featuring 8TS have been removed, and Chinese fans continue to boycott group activities.

Will be debunking this later! Very similar to the other thread from awhile ago, and mostly unsuccessful in debunking anything.
The word used by JM in this clip has very colorist/discriminatory undertones when used against another person. You can call your pet the word all you want, but the meaning changes for people. Two of the screenshots YOU attached even point out these implications. (1/3)
It is not the literal equivalent of the N word, but that doesn’t mean it is not often used with racist/colorist implications. Poor wording in my tweet does not debunk the fact that this word has a strong and current history of colorism. (2/3)

BTS and BigHit’s obsession with taking advantage of their fans’ poor mental health for profit, the disturbing but sad truth: a mini thread. ImageImage
In 2017, BH held an online survey for fans worldwide to fill out for marketing research. The idea itself is very clever. The survey is mostly normal, asking fans what content they like, what content they wish to see. However, the survey takes a turn. ImageImage
The survey begins to ask questions about the fans’ personal life, ending on page 29 with a dark atmosphere. BigHit asks fans if they ever feel “depressed, blue” or if they’re someone who “worries a lot.”
These are very odd questions to ask for marketing research, no? Image
