This weekend the UCP will vote on Policy 11 at their party AGM. Among many bad things, Policy 11 allows:

-The Gradual dismantling of public healthcare to be accelerated
-The Governing Party to endorse a two tier healthcare system
-The Governing Party to place a value on lives Image
The First Sentence of the rationale reads:

Healthcare is the greatest budgetary experience.

Personally I don’t see Healthcare as an expense, but rather as an investment in the lives and livelihoods of Albertans.
A few sentences down it mentions a “hybrid system”, Medicare was founded on the principle that no one person is better than the other.

Albertans believe that no one person deserves better or faster access, and Albertans also believe no one should be left behind.
Finally at the end it reads “This could help the economy recover”.

First of all, if your population doesn’t have access to healthcare during a pandemic, it’s not going to help your economy.

And also, proper healthcare and economic growth shouldn’t ever be put together.
If you’re like me, and are appalled at this policy, reach out and see how you can get involved.

Call the Minister of Health: (403)-640-1363

Call your MLA

This evening the UCP has voted to adopt a two tier healthcare model going into the next legislative session.

While we may not see more work on this till the spring, here’s what you can do to help now!
1. Send a letter to your MLA, The Minister of Health and Premier Kenney.

Make sure to CC @RachelNotley and @DShepYEG so they know what is being said and can bring it up!
2. Get involved! If you’re sick and tired of the UCP’s Hit Job on Universal Healthcare, follow @AbForward or get involved with a party of your choice!

Jason Kenney’s UCP was given a mandate by Albertans 18 months ago to create jobs, fix the economy and build pipelines.

Nobody will argue with you that he won the election, but what exactly has he been doing?
From April 2019 to just before the pandemic, The UCP had already lost 50,000 jobs, they hadn’t fixed the economy, and not a single pipeline had been build.

Today, the UCP has lost more than 200,000 jobs, they economy has never been more broken, and still no pipeline.
Now what has he been doing?

We now make 4.7 billion dollars less in revenue every year because of a “job creation tax cut” but clearly it hasn’t worked all things considered.

Alberta Separation is one of the most stupid and misguided ideas out there, here’s why:
1. It would be incredibly hard to accomplish, we would need to elect enough federal MP’s to force a referendum, guess what we don’t have much of a presence in the HoC.
2. We would never get a pipeline built to tidewater again. You think building a pipeline within our country is hard? Just wait until we leave and Canada owes us nothing. (and frankly Canada would probably have lots more lib governments without AB)
