Ten years ago this past August I fled a man who I had known since 8th grade. He was an abusive drunk who caused me to lose a baby by pushing me down steep farmhouse stairs. I packed my three children into my car and lied to him, telling him we had been invited to camp at a 👇
Friends house for the weekend. O drove to St. Cloud when my gas tank emptied. My friend met me and filled my tank. I had no money. I took my children and stayed with her in a suburb of Mpls. For two weeks I did nothing but apply for jobs. We slept in her house that was filled 👇
With people, animals, and things everywhere. There was filth in every corner. We were there two weeks and her dog bit my toddler son.. the friendship was effectively over. I gathered my few belongings and left. I drove around for hours on end trying to figure out what to do👇
And where to go. I couldnt go back. That was not happening. Another friend suggested I drive to Mary's Place in Mpls to stay with my children until we figured out something else. I hadn't ever heard of it before. I drove there and we showed up just as they were closing. We 👇
We told to go in the line for families with children. After a few minutes, a tiny elderly woman came out and walked down the line. She grabbed my hand& asked me to follow her. She lead me &my children to a tiny room. She gave them each a snack bar and a juice box & asked 👇
Me to tell her what happened. She was kind and compassionate and offered me tissues when I cried. Then she gave me a packet and had me fill out some forms while my children played. She came back in and personally led us to a one room apartment...the last open one they had 👇
She gave my children each $1 & handed me an envelope with $50 &told me to save it in the freezer. She prayed for my children& me & left us to get settled for the night. The room had three beds in it, a big shelf and closet space, a kitchenette, a clunky TV, a bathroom👇
And a windo AC. It was clean. it was quiet. It was safe. Our bedding was supplied to us along with towels. We were given a box of food and cleaning supplies and a gift card to get some groceries that night. The next day I was helped with medical and food support. My girls 👇
Were enrolled in school and were bussed there from the shelter. My son got to go to daycare with Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ Sisters. I got to breathe, look for a job, & talk to lawyers& dv advocates free of charge. I was able to find a job relatively fast. 👇
There were rules and supports in place to help women like me thrive. There were curfews. There were apartment checks. No drugs. No alcohol. No visitors. We had access to a lot of living amenities like laundry and a computer lab. Weekly meetings were had with all residents👇
To make announcements, pray, and give all of the children another dollar. We were there a little more than a month before a more permanent home was able to be had bc I had a job then.

I have donated to Mary's Place every year since then. Today I delivered food there and👇
As I was helping Sister Maureen empty the cart of so much food, I started crying remembering being there and feeling hopeless until that sweet little old lady, Mary Jo Copeland took my hand, comforted me, and told me God loved me and so did she.

Mary Jo Copeland is a living 👇
Saint &she saved my life. Her apostolate has helped countless people in the Twin Cities.

That's all. That's what I wanted to share with you all tonight.👇
If you have been looking for a Catholic org to give to that truly does God's work, please consider Mary's Place & Sharing&Caring Hands.

I genuinely appreciate your kind comments&shares of this.

Mary Jo Copeland is the mother of 12&started this apostolate from her home. It's grown in so many ways over the decades&she doesn't even take federal money to support it!

She deserves the accolades. Truly a Saint to be.

Today I had to run to Target to grab a couple of things. I had to take a peek at shoes for Henri. His feet are huge &grow faster than anyone else's in this house. We don't happen to have a pair rn that fit him as a hand me down.
I had done all of my shopping...maskless... and 👇
Went to look at shoes. There was a mother &her three boys in the shoe area. All were masked. (I didn't see another unmasked person at all tho there were some who half had them on for the show of it all...) the boys were all 5 &under. I'm looking at prices &hear one of them 👇
Gasp! Literally. He drew in air with tremendous noise..."MOM! THERES A PERSON WITH NO MASK!" I smiled at him. Bc I smile at people. Smiles are important. Mom starts giggling quietly... obviously amused. Boy keeps on for the next few minutes about how I don't have a mask on 👇

What did you do today whilst also engaging on Twitter?

I'd love to see your productivity lists.

And if you had an off day and you mostly just sat today...that's cool too.
In addition to prayer time...i
My list follows 👇
Today I made sure 10 families had groceries for this week, I packed my husband & sons for their trip tomorrow, I homeschooled several children, I've made three meals, I've cleaned a bathroom, I've done three loads of laundry & two loads of dishes. I've set bread to rise👇
I cleaned the fridge. I mopped three floors. I fixed a hole in a sweater.

I still have one meal to make, food to deliver to two more families & to Mary's Place, one more laundry switch plus general tidying before going to bed after family prayer.

That's my every Thursday. 👇

The "coin shortage" and "sorry we only take cards right now due to the national crisis" are sisters, friends. It's intentional. It's an effort to drive us forcibly to a cashless society which removes any anyonimity in buying, tracks and aggregates purchase data, assigns it to 1/
Private individuals, removes barter and trade as an economic system, is easier to tax, and erodes your freedom of association.

It's not necessary..it's not "whoops we are running out" when historically we always print/mint more $$. It's purposeful. It's forceful. Stop buying 2/
All of the lies you're being told. THINK for the love of God.
And stop treating people like me like we are weirdo idiots who know noting and wear foil. We aren't.
