On a lighter note:

So, for Amazon prime day I had my local indie bookstore pick a surprise bunch of books for me (I told them what I like) and I could not be more thrilled with the shipment that just arrived.

Thanks so much Misian and @RoomofOnesOwn A stack of books includes Zadie Smith’s intimations; Trifo
The books are: Zadie Smith’s Intimations; Trifonia Melibea Obono’s translated novel La Bastarda; My Shadow is My Skin: Voices from the Iranian Diaspora edited by Katharine Whitney and Leila Emery; and editor Kevin Young’s African American Poetry: 250 Years of Struggle and Song.
I know a lot of my followers are Liverpool-based: I strongly suggest asking @newsfromnowhere on Bold Street to see if they’ll do anything similar!

(I’ve also had surprise citations from my local indie wine shop, if you’re that way inclined.)

Support local small businesses!!
Annoying: “citations” should be “curations,” sorry! It’s been a day

The Agüero touching thing isn’t bad bc it was intended to be harmful or caused active harm. It’s bad because it’s not isolated from its cultural implications: that it’s okay to touch women in ways that one would not touch a man. It’s important to read “harmless” sexism as sexism.
It can feel like small things are being “blown out of proportion,” but it’s crucial to approach things in their cultural contexts. We can’t on one hand speak out against discrimination & violence against women & on the other hand brush off small sexist slights. It’s all connected
You can be a “nice person” and act in ways that are conditioned by the systemically harmful structure of the society you’re raised in! No one is perfect! But we must be accountable for our mistakes, even when they seem small or harmless.
