In the current situation, so many are judging military establishment quite wrong. The establishment has a pattern in its dealings. Think of it as the Cabal of Survival or Court of Owls of Gotham. In their mind, they act to bring stability to the country.
How often it backfires is another thing. They believe to build a fort again, you have to burn it to ground first. In the case of Pakistan, they have burnt it down once in 2017-18. The stability should have come now but didn't. For many reasons and IK should be blamed for it.
For example, after the 2018 elections, they were of the mind that Imran Khan government should build a relationship of cooperation with opposition in Parliament and make it work. But as usual, Imran Khan went for aggression, whether it was production order or PAC chair.
So, Imran Khan obstructed everything they desired on the political front. Now, the establishment desires stability because it's too busy on Afghan front, Kashmir and CPEC. This can be read in Bajwa's recent statement.
The stability can only be achieved through dialogue but the Prime Minister is too naive to understand that. Let's see how things work out. I bet that Prime Minister will prevail and opposition will be delivered some harsh blows but it will only make establishment more anxious.
As for the opposition, they know that government is tottering already and their aim is not to overthrow it but to further unstable it. A time may come when the discord in CCs will reach climax and Bajwa will have to withdraw its support.
The other scenario is take down the whole system. As for my thoughts, I don't really believe PDM has the capacity, balls or will to bring democratic ideals to life because it will mean giving up everything they have built in their whole political lives.
Also, read the recent history. Both opposition parties voted for the amendment legalizing Bajwa's extension, helped government pass bills in the house. All of this happened in recent months, not years. Fazlu initiated a movement but none of PPP and PML (N) agreed to be it part.

The problems with Left in Pakistan are its PR, accommodation of so-called liberal-elite/centrist class and unschooled pioneers and glaikit representatives. Many liberals who are in fact centrists have joined the left circles and the left has accommodated them It is a debate...
going on for years now and the majority of the left agrees that liberalism and working-class struggle, commonly known as left politics, are two different things. An example of accomodating liberal/centrists is Pervez Hoodhboy. He recently wrote an article in DAWN arguing...
whether the statues of racists, slave-traders, bigots, colonisers should not be brought down toeing the so-called Cancel Cancel Culture narrative. A consensus is found among the left that those statues have no place in our societies. Want to keep them as a reminder of the...
