NYMag gets a long interview with Andrew Cuomo, doesn't press him *at all* on his order to nursing homes that they must accept COVID-positive patients.

Nothing about rescinding the order. Nothing about data secrecy. Nothing about refusing an independent investigation. Nothing.
This is the only mention of Cuomo's nursing home order in the entire interview.
Cuomo isn't even asked a question about nursing homes, but in a footnote the author acts as a Cuomo flak, repeating his deflection that controversy over New York's nursing home deaths is nothing but a right-wing smear campaign.

Cuomo's critics don't get the same courtesy.
@NYMag's Cuomo interview is what Orwell (or whoever, since it's probably apocryphal) was talking about:

“Journalism is printing what someone else does not want published; everything else is public relations.”
NYS Democrats and non-partisan journalists want an independent investigation into nursing home COVID deaths. Cuomo refuses, calls it a right-wing smear.

Any journalist privileged enough to get an interview needs to at least ask a question about it. businessinsider.com/cuomo-nursing-…
that's a spicy m̶e̶a̶t̶-̶a̶-̶b̶a̶l̶l̶ ratio

I profiled #Unity2020, the "patriotic" bipartisan presidential ticket created by Intellectual Dark Web star Bret Weinstein.

Tulsi Gabbard and Dan Crenshaw are the candidates, with the Pres and VP to be determined by coin flip. (Icymi over the weekend) businessinsider.com/unity-2020-idw…
The #Unity2020 view is that a Trump or Biden victory would be a catastrophic event, and only a selfless patriotic political movement can stave off certain disaster.

Weinstein says Trump is a "cynical actor" and Biden is a "lifelong machine politician."
businessinsider.com/unity-2020-idw…
#Unity2020 has no ballot access, less than 50 days before the election. Weinstein's plan is to have the Libertarian and Green parties hand over their ballot access out of a patriotic duty.

Libertarians and Greens have thoughts on this.

Conservative media personalities credulously share a fake news story from a Sinclair-owned local TV station, a story so fake it's been pulled off the website.

None of them have deleted their tweets or corrected the record. ImageImageImageImage
Here's what you get when you click on the "Nashville authorities lied about Covid transmissibility at bars" story now. Image
Here's the anatomy of the fake "Nashville Covid scandal" story that self-styled right-wing truth-tellers bought hook, line, and sinker and have not corrected. cnn.com/2020/09/18/med…

35 years ago today, a Senate committee held hearings — on behalf of a group formed by several of those senators' wives — about "porn rock" lyrics supposedly poisoning the minds of America's youth.

It was a First Amendment showdown for the ages. businessinsider.com/35-years-pmrc-…
At the hearing, then-Sen. @algore sarcastically asked Twisted Sister's @deesnider if SMF ("Sick Motherfucking Friends of Twisted Sister") was a Christian group, and the video for "We're Not Gonna Take It" was cited as an example of gratuitous violence.
John Denver likened the Parents Music Resource Council's recommendations on "record labeling" to Nazi Germany, and Frank Zappa called them "a sinister toilet training manual...whipped up by the Wives of Big Brother." businessinsider.com/35-years-pmrc-…

After three years and 100-ish dispatches, I’ve hung up my @wethefifth producer hat.

I’m forever grateful to my comrades for inviting me to join for an incalculable number of laughs, a few dozen hangovers, and expanding my booklist to an unmanageable length.
I’m not going far, just busy (maybe not Kmele-busy, but really busy)!

Still writing @businessinsider columns and the Insider Today newsletter. Still raising/homeschooling a ridiculous amount of kids during the apocalypse.

Mysteriously exciting things in the works, (stay tuned)
TFC has grown from humble roots to explode into the zeitgeist. I’ll always take pride and joy in whatever contribution I’ve made to that effort.

Through TFC, I’ve gotten to know incredible guests, did a live show at @ComedyCellarUSA, and solved Mideast peace.

What a ride.
