The inclusion of Lurians in both #StarTrekDiscovery and #StarTrekLowerDecks finally allows for comparison, and raises one very important question.

Is Morn:

A) Buff AF, and wearing skin-tight clothing
B) Chonk, and squeezing into it
C) Wearing a puff coat (it WAS the 90's) A bulldog-faced alien, with a head far too large for its bod(Animated) a bulldog-faced Lurian and a blue-skinned AndoriaMorn, from Deep Space Nine, standing beside Odo. His clothin
YOU DECIDE.

#StarTrek
The one thing that is not in question is the absolute hammer that Morn is swinging. It takes a lot to make Jadzia yearn.
Honestly, I would have preferred that Lurians just be built like tanks - that Morn's pretty standard, for the race.

Also, wasn't all of Morn's hair falling out a result of long-term latinum poisoning? Why are these other Lurians also bald?

Ranting about the "Toobin should be forgiven b/c we're not sex positive enough" bullshit aside?

We really aren't sex positive enough.

I was *fucked up* the first time I couldn't get hard during a sexual encounter. I was *fucked up* the first time I came quick, or couldn't come.
That was even with comprehensive sex ed, through my church (God I love being a UU).

Even then, I bought into tying my masculinity and my self worth into a culturally-enforced model of sexual performance.
You don't have to be cut and muscular to be sexy, as a man. I am a sack of potatoes, and apparently exactly some people's type.

Come "too quickly?" According to who? Grab a toy, use your hands, get back in there. If everybody has fun, what exactly is the harm?

Hey, just so we're clear?

Masturbation is a fun thing I do. I have zero guilt about that. Much like pooping, it's something I do in private and don't subject other people to. Much like pooping, I don't talk to other people about it much.

AND I DEFINITELY WOULDN'T DO IT ON ZOOM.
THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE MASTURBATION, WHICH IS NORMAL.

THE PROBLEM IS SHOWING OTHER UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE HIS DICK, WHICH IS A LITERAL CRIME.
EVEN FOR DICKS I AM OTHERWISE IN THE MOOD FOR, THERE IS A TIME AND PLACE.

Shocker: we're in a pandemic, and despite calls to open everything up, PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO BE OUT AND ABOUT AROUND OTHER PEOPLE DURING A PANDEMIC.

We could have paid everyone to stay home, frozen rents, mortgages, evictions, but NoOOOoOOOo...

I am *desperate* to go back to the movies.

Bigass tub of movie theater popcorn, add Jalapeños from the nacho section? A cold Mr. Pibb? Two hours of escapism in a reclining couch?

Fuck yes.

But I WON'T BE BACK AS LONG AS IT PUTS MYSELF AND OTHERS AT RISK.
WHICH MEANS I WON'T BE IN A THEATER UNTIL PROBABLY LATE SPRING 2021 AT THE EARLIEST.

I made my peace with that, when we fumbled the pandemic response.

No amount of "reopening" is going to change my mind on that.

On-point.

Another thing: in this comic (and often in my experience) the bad situation is made even worse by someone else saying things to minimize or disregard what you're feeling.

And it's left to us, after our "outburst," to apologize to the person who pushed us there.
I'm not saying the outburst is fine - it's not. We should apologize. We should be cognizant of the people around us, and the impact we have on them.

At the same time, we deserve that in return.

We /are/ sensitive, but that doesn't mean the things that hurt us "just shouldn't."
If you're going to be someone in our lives, maybe don't respond to us by saying that what we're feeling is wrong.

Maybe know us well enough - listen, well enough - to be there for us in moments of stress.

The "ticking time bomb" isn't inevitable. It's a reaction.

"When the gay liberation movement arose in the late 60's, its use of the word "gay" also pitted radicals against those who were reluctant to replace the term preferred in mainstream society, "homosexual." It took two decades for gay to win widespread acceptance."

NOTHING IS NEW.
I hate that the fracturing of our community into spaces segregated by age and class, combined with our losing a whole generation of queer elders, has meant that we don't have any established pattern of becoming an "elder."

We don't have a way for baby gays to have their later /

I wish we could push this into the public understanding.

If you are PERSONALLY a good and welcoming and friendly sort who doesn't "have a racist bone in your body"

but who simultaneously votes for people and policies which just HAPPEN to disproportionately harm certain folks...
Then I've got bad news for you.
"I don't discriminate in hiring! I just hire people who feel like they'll be good fits for the company, regardless of their background!"

What defines a good fit?

"Oh, you know! People who [are culturally similar to the 30 middle-class white people who already work here]."
