‘Neither Oxford not its ..partner Astra Zeneca would release the data’ from vaccine tests it is claiming are successful. Why is NO COVID related data available transparently for scrutiny? Why not let journalists, other scientists see datasets as is norm? theguardian.com/world/2020/oct…
2/Why do I keep hammering that no COVID related platform releases datasets? Because I run a small tech company that sells data. And I know that data platforms can slice and dice and tag the data on the backend to tell any story on the front end, they want. Why I keep demanding...
3/ that reporters such a @apoorva_nyc and others (not to single you out @apoorva_nyc) MUST educate themselves about the backend of these data platforms such as @COVID19Tracking and @JHS that they are all citing, respectfully, totally blindly. Just because there’s a map based on..
4/ ‘data’ about COVID and maps SAY there are xxxx deaths or infections, does not make that true. To verify these numbers as true you HAVE to look at the raw datasets, which are not that mysterious or intimidating, and ask where the 1/methodology is: how were these gathered? If...
5/ you look at @covidTracking19 you see huge flaws in ‘methodology’ as the numbers are uploaded into a GitHub account by unnamed ‘volunteers’. Could be Biden staffers, WH staffers, or your mom. Flaws in @JHS methodology are that raw data are not even disclosed so you don’t know
6/ anything about the methodology at all and the terms of service forbid disclosure. So reporters are taking @JohnsHopkinsSPH data completely on faith. Data map at @JohnsHopkins got moved from the School of Publjc Health to Engineering, so it’s not even managed by medical folks.
7/ The other metric to look at when checking raw COVID data (which NO reporters are doing) is ‘sources’. What are the sources of these data? Click through and you see that @USAFacts doesn’t identify the raw datasets and provides CUMULATIVE not daily numbers. So numbers can...
8/ always honestly be reported as an new record’. In other words they don’t recoveries! So the total they offer in the raw dataset is ALL infections for ALL time. No COVID map explains if results called ‘cases’ are from tests, clinics, drs. This raises obvious problem that the..
8/ more you test, the higher the numbers of ‘cases’ you will get but no COVID map reports ‘infections per total number of tests taken’ which is the ONLY way that data would make sense reported as ‘spikes’. So as more people test, you are guaranteed to get ‘spikes’ even if total..
9/ number of infectious tests per ALL tests taken or in respect to population, is actually FALLING. Another problem is that test results taken at Rite Aid are collected by Google, as I reported, not by state health agencies alone: so a powerful for profit 3rd party is source of..
10/ the metric for ‘cases’ based on at least all Rite Aid tests. Lastly what is the definition being used of ‘cases’ or ‘deaths’ from COVID? In a real verifiable data map. 5)3 definition, the methodology and the sources are all footnoted TO THE DATA. The platforms used make vague
11/ sorry; in a real verifiable COVID data map, the definition of ‘cases’ and ‘deaths’, the methodology and the sources are all footnoted TO THE DATA. COVID maps used by @guardian, @nytimes etc make vague pronouncements on other urls about method and sources but don’t footnote
12/ the actual data about ‘infections’ or ‘deaths’ with the definitions. That’s not science and it’s not scholarship, that’s pure imaginary assertion. So when you drill down you find that OR for instance defines, reports COVID ‘cases’ as ANY cough, fever - this is from Governor’s
12/ own press release. Or they are starting to use the nonsensical definition of COVID deaths as deaths related to the pandemic in any way, ie you die of cancer because presumably your doctor was too busy to see you due to COVID...a totally unverifiable claim for a cancer death..
13/ and I am hearing even from thoughtful people repetition of the equally nonsensical category ‘excess deaths’; that is, deaths confirmed in NO WAY as related to COVID AT ALL but which these platforms claim are ‘excess’ to normal death rate. Thus COVID. Not factoring in that
14/ a) people may be dying in excess of norm due to alcoholism, poverty, suicide, joblessness leading to unaffordable health care, and as I am hearing often from carers for the elderly, dying of loneliness, CAUSED not by COVID but by the social policies using COVID as the trigger

To be clear: I’m not ‘anti-vax’. That said, I had flu shot for 1st time, at CVS. Had to ask for 4 layers of documentation before learning that dog kidney cells, latex, Singapore H1N1 are in shot, and that CDC has only vague assurances re dog cells studies. cdc.gov/flu/prevent/ce…
2/ Also learned: 1st doc I was asked to sign did away w/my medical privacy under HIPAA law: lets CVS send my personally identifying data to ‘agencies’ and ‘schools’. Also something called CAIR gets to release it, which pharmacist could not identify. CVS like Rite Aid sells data.
3/ I was asked to pay and sign before seeing prescription label. Label only said ‘flu vaccine’, not ingredients. Only when I asked for ingredients was I given box w actual label which you are supposed to get by law. It listed dog cells, latex, H1N1 virus from Singapore in shot.

"Manufactured claims of incompetence and malfeasance [...] have emerged as the [climate][ denialist weapon of choice." @MichaelEMann, The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars. Describes how fake/ hyped "scandal" re scholarship is fed to allies who write blogs in online echo chamber.
2/Strategy includes abuse of FOIA, to burden scientists with intrusive demands for records, impeding their research. @MichaelEMann, The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars
3/Climate denialist McIntyre demanded via FOIA all email correspondence between a well-known climate scientist Ben Santer and his coauthors. Intrusive and intimidating.

4/Which is how the right wing manages to silence dissent of impactful influencers by challenging their preferred outcomes. Military calls this "tenderizing" a target, leaving one so occupied with putting out reputational fires that one can't advance one's own powerful agendas.
5/Another issue: targets such as scientists, scholars, often play by civilized rules, calling biased editors "unusual" or sticking to pointing out flaws in methodologies. But echo chamber uses lies, personal attacks, reputational smears, catchy namecalling; blindsiding civility.
6/Loc 2576 of The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars should chill your soul: @MichelEMann explains how pressures from fossil fuel, pharmaceuticals, tobacco etc corrupt peer review. Peer review's importance he notes cannot be overstated; a last bastion of actual truth not spin.

1/ Fossil-fuel allied scientists write letter to Pres of UVA, where @MichaelMann was teaching, complaining re his Senate testimony. Many influencers now endure calls to publishers, employers, university heads when we bring out messages that contradict right wing agendas.Loc 2559,
2/The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars, @MichaelEMann. Literally everyone should read this book. Searing indictment of how climate change scientists are harassed, targeted, silenced by "vast right wing conspiracy" of echo chamber talking heads, special interests, fake news sites
3/ So @MichaelEMann, who is only identifying evidence that can lead to policies that allow us to sustain life on earth, has to take time from his research and peer reviewed publications to RESPOND to a letter from fossil fuel allied scientists to the then-pres of his university.

THIS is the bad data going into COVID totals: Oregon Health Authority includes in the "TOTAL" of "CASES", with a footnote, "presumed" cases of people presenting with "COVID-like symptoms" such as :cough, fever." SO ALL OREGON FEVERS ARE COUNTED AS "COVID." govstatus.egov.com/OR-OHA-COVID-19
2/ I am not advocating for higher or lower counts, only ACCURATE ones. Including ALL patients with cough or fever AND ALL THEIR CONTACTS, as Oregon Health Authority does, as "COVID", means that it is impossible to know whether or not to visit Oregon, how to advise loved ones.
3/ Read mindblowing fine print for Oregon COVID data: *
"Includes cases confirmed by diagnostic testing... presumptive cases. Presumptive cases are people without a positive diagnostic test who have COVID-19-like symptoms and had close contact with a laboratory confirmed case..

1/Pls remember that four days ago I warned that Trump would demonize and punish NYC as red meat for his base. "I don't believe you need" 30-40,000 ventilators he says now to NYC. I note this b/c you can foresee events if you know how to read political messaging. He is setting..
2/Up a dialectic netween NYC and red states, identifying NYC as "irresponsible", infectious. History shows that once a group is identified as "infectious" and a threat to the larger group (even though in this case there's medical basis for his messaging), they can be dehumanized
3/ and a reptile-brain mentality from the larger group wants to see them isolated, demeaned and brought low. Add to this the hostility of Trump's base to "liberal elites" on the coasts. These are not conscious antagonisms that Trump is manipulating but demeaning, humiliating NYC
