Brexit wars came, then Trump wars followed. They won both.
Brexit wars II was to “get Brexit done”. They won.
Trump wars II just started.
I would think at least we in the UK learnt the lesson of hubristic dismissal & thoughtless wanton denial by now. Apparently not.
Listen.
Again, whoever wins (it isn’t over yet, by a long way) what admittedly concerns me is just how quickly mainstream pundits - almost with unanimity - are prepared to repeat the same mistakes, over & again.
This incurious dismissal of Trump voter concerns is very bad for *everyone*
Even a *very* brief internet search reveals Trump voter concerns that are at the very least worth pondering.
And yes, I’ve also looked at the “disinformation” rebuttals.
Look at both.
Why have we become so incurious?
Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

“Gerhard Schindler, who led the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) from 2011 to 2016, said Germany needed to curb its “strategic dependence” on Beijing and ban Huawei from its 5G mobile phone network.”
“He also warned that Angela Merkel’s liberal approach to the 2015 migrant crisis had left Germany with a “large reservoir” of young Muslim men susceptible to violence and jihadist ideology, and that the true scale of the danger was only now becoming clear.”
“Some argue that Imperial’s modelling may have come true had it not been for lockdown. But this does not explain Sweden. Academics there said its assumptions would mean 85,000 deaths if Sweden did not lock down. It did not – and deaths are just under 6,000”
It gets better
“..original system..run over by a bus would be counted as a ‘Covid death’ if..tested positive..but later recovered. When this..was pointed out..it turned out even the Health Secretary was unaware what..Covid death data referred to. He ordered an immediate inquiry”
asking “how did Giuliani get these emails” rather than: “are they genuine” points to a willingness in media to ignore evidence of (and a witness to) biden’s *alleged treason with genocidal china, over a procedural point
I learnt how to think better via traditional Arabic legal philosophers (الأصوليين)
“..a mountain of knowledge to be discovered in (Islamic) Spain shot like a lightning bolt through Europe. Translators (went for) ancient Greek..translated into Arabic. The jackpot..was Aristotle”
Ancient Arabic books on the principles of jurisprudence are some of most powerful displays of legal logic and linguistic philosophy you can find. So many of them are preserved.
Unbeknownst to many, they are replete with reverence for the commentary & thinking of Plato & Aristotle
It is worth noting the role Arab Jews also played in this ‘golden era’ for medieval Muslim thought.
Here’s to a similar, new era of reenlightenment for our times 🙏🏽🧿
