"We're only getting together for Thanksgiving" is 2020's answer to "we'll cover more ground if we split up" or "I'll go reset the breakers in the basement by myself."
"It's just for Thanksgiving, we'll be fine" is the 'wholesome family dinner' version of teenagers having sex in a car at the beginning of the horror movie.
Remember this, back in March?

Get ready for a bunch of heartbreaking sequels in early December. Image
If you're that one person who screams at the TV saying "nobody would be that stupid" during a horror movie, consider Thanksgiving 2020 and ask yourself where the bar for "that stupid" really is.
Thanksgiving 2020 tips:
1) Don't deep-fry a frozen turkey
2) Because it will explode and start a fire
3) And you don't need a whole Turkey
4) Make sure everybody's webcams, phones, and devices are up-to-speed by running a few test meetings before the big day.
Seriously, start planning NOW for a virtual Thanksgiving.

Maybe everyone will just be ugly-crying on camera about how they wish they could be together, but ugly-crying on camera is a million times better than ugly-crying at a funeral.
Big advantage for virtual Thanksgiving: the moderator can mute your racist uncle long before the man drinks himself into a mute stupor.
I'm going to go out on a limb and hypothesize that if you're still following me on Twitter, you are:
1) not the racist uncle
2) more likely to mute the racist uncle than several other family members might be
3) therefore a good candidate for offering to host family Zoomsgiving
(Or Skypesgiving, or Thanksdiscord, or whatever)
NARRATOR: "Twelve hours, and twenty-three hundred retweets later..."

ME: "I guess this is the part where I say I don't have a SoundCloud?"
Here's your epilogue:

It ain't about me. I want YOU to have a gratitude-filled holiday where the only grieving is for the in-person hugs you've postponed.

But... I carelessly joked about Twitter making me the patron saint of Zoomsgiving, and my friend @lartist did THIS: Image

I watched ENOLA HOLMES 2, and WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY and now I have big thoughts about the significance of "old" art.
I didn't realize I was sitting down to watch two sides of the same coin back-to-back, but here we are.

ENOLA HOLMES is (obviously) based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

WEIRD shows how @alyankovic's musical genius is expressed through subversion of existing music.
Now you may have picked up this thread hoping I'd review both, or at least ONE, of those films for you. PLOT TWIST! A movie review is itself an art form which is dependent upon pre-existing art. Granted, most reviewers don't set out to be artsy, but artful reviews do happen.

I told Sandra that I was down to the last four "canine/anthro" sketches, and she told me that there was at least one more in the "too complicated for now, save these for last" stack.

Turns out there's EXACTLY one, and it's for @ksonney.
Me, queuing up the fifth of tonight's sketches as a reward to myself...
The final piece for @KSonney.
Kevin asked for some specific stuff, like wrinkles, bad teeth, bad attitude, and a book, oh and the specific breed of dog which I probably missed by a country mile or a dog-year or whatever, but *I* am happy with the results.

As a cis/white male my experiences with this site have been predictably more pleasant than many other people's, but the real game changer for me was 2016-ish, when, for no particular reason¹, I got aggressive with the blocking and muting.
¹ 2016-ish? There may have been a particular reason.
I've blocked *thousands* of accounts. Crypto-bros, Magats, and even, on occasion, people who insisted on explaining my punchlines to me (although they usually get muted, because they're merely annoying.)

I was busy paying attention to my hand injury and the stack of books that still require sketches. Meanwhile, the latest Schlock Mercenary book project crowdfunded its way through the last stretch goal.

I thought I could wait until next week to start showing off pin designs, and now I'm going to wait until next week anyway (because weekend) only now they'll be late.

I love that this is doing well, but I strongly dislike not being on top of things.
Oh, and we're 43 backers away from 1500, which is the point at which I'm supposed to record myself creating something that we'll make available as an add-on print. We have two weeks left, so I'm pretty sure that's a thing that'll happen.

I should start thinking about it, yeah?

Yesterday I sketched in books until my hand hurt. ROOKIE MISTAKE which is kind of terrible considering my non-rookie status.

Hand feels better today, because I didn't OVER-over-do things, but still... I need to be more careful.
I'm identifying (or at least paying more attention to) the strain-inducing things. The worst, weirdly, is putting caps back on the Copic Pigment Liners. They need quite a push compared to the markers, and the simplest way to do is also the wrongest way to do it.
I should NOT be sliding the cap into position, and then 'crushing' the pen lengthwise between the palms of my hands until the cap snaps into place. Because I'm stabbing the exact part of my hand (the interossei muscles) that hurt the most, and took the longest to heal.

I have tried making yakisoba several times, using sauce recipes I've found online, and using the amazing noodles from @umiorganic, and I've been either underwhelmed or disappointed *every time.*

The noodles are amazing, but apparently I don't like yakisoba sauces.

1/
This morning I tried something new. I put 1/2 cup of my homemade broth (carrot/onion/ham, heavy on carrot) and 2 tbsp of butter in the skillet, and brought it up to a shallow, sizzling boil.

Then I added the noodles, and let them sit for a couple of minutes

2/
They soaked up the broth nicely. I stirred them, dropped more butter on TOP, let it melt, and then I broke an egg over it all. Then I put a lid on the skillet and let the egg steam until it was done.

AMAZING.

So I did it again with the rest of the package of noodles.
