The continued fight requires multiple tactics on multiple fronts.
Let’s each play our part.
Yelling at activists that “Biden can’t act yet” isn’t helpful. It’s also incorrect. Transition teams are moving. Resumes are being reviewed. Teams are being built. Who occupies administration roles will matter GREATLY. Now is *exactly* the time to exert pressure. 1/20/21 is late.
There are policy transition teams and personnel transition teams. They are formulating strategies, hires, research and approaches *now.*
And this happens every transition. Sharing bc I really think many folks don’t know this process.
Influencing the WH transition must be done simultaneously to this. The excellent news is Black organizers who already turned GA blue don’t need anything from us but to follow them. So far? They want support & to share their info.
Just a few in GA who we can support from anywhere:
Also-fighting all material effects of COVID? Still necessary. The same people dying disproportionately then are the same ones suffering disproportionately now: Black folks, BIPOC folks, folks in low income circumstances, the elderly, disabled people and housing insecure folks.
These folks still need us to mask up, stay distanced and be smart. Disabled activists like @Imani_Barbarin keep reminding us it is NOT ok to have basically said “this will only kill old people and disabled people” and then just basically...decide to be ok with that.
Another front of the fight?
The courts. We still have a lot of voter suppression cases being waged and Supreme Court rulings to fight. This didn’t end because the election did. Ask @LawyersComm or @NAACP_LDF or @civilrightsorg or @ACLU.
And police violence has not ended.
Just this weekend, @DMVBlackLives had to defend Black spaces from MAGA folks and white supremacists while @DCPoliceDept not only didn’t stop the MAGAs, they participated. They tore down signs that had been up for weeks or had replaced old ones
Not to mention: ol boy is STILL trying to steal this election. If he can’t win in the courts, he’s going to keep trying to win in the streets. You don’t take a victory lap through a crowd of your unmasked cult members after you’ve CLEARLY lost for no reason.
There’s plenty I didn’t even mention.
I say all this to say: arguing right now about what to do & when, when *all* of it matters is perhaps not the wisest use of our precious energy.
Those lanes we always talk about? Find yours. Work. Let others play their part. We gotta win.
Hope this helps. Y’all stay blessed!

We really make this thing from love and tenacity every week and we’re *so* new and still growing and I’m just grateful folks even be listeninggggggg!
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
We said “let’s get a bunch of BIPOC women, femme and gender non conforming folks and make a podcast w an intersectional lens and give free ads to BIPOC businesses and launch it during a pandemic” and like... it’s really here and it gets made and people come on and people listen?!
45 million Americans hold $1.6 TRILLION in student loan debt.
Trillion. With a T. You wanna talk about financial recovery in a COVID world and a jump start to the economy? Get folks off the hamster wheel of student loan debt ASAP.
I tried this “limiting reply thing” and meant to change it back before I pressed tweet...and I guess it can’t be changed midstream?
We can remain focused on the work ahead while honoring a historic moment and celebrating the immense fortitude it took from so many to get here.
We contain multitudes. The struggle continues, and joy is good fuel.
Be good to yourselves today, stay safe, and stay masked! 🖤✊🏾
I’m going to be spending my day *not* on here so I can just exist in this moment. And I’m going to be thinking of all those who did not survive this presidency, and all the scars we will bear. I will think of all we owe them, in our laughter and our tears and our striving.
I’m going to be thinking of all the people who did all the things to get us here to this moment, the names we know and those we do not, and pray their protection, their covering and that their cup overflow with abundance for all they have contributed.
I'm trying to stay off of social right now because my spirit needs more rest than this timeline will allow.
I am past furious.
Y'all knew supremacists would wild out. We kept telling you. And you normalized them.
Meanwhile MEMBERS OF FREAKING CONGRESS are *inside,* refusing masks from Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester-a Black woman who statistically is at far more risk than them-and they scoffed.
