1/ 'They have asked for any show of support we can give them' -> This statement originated from a demand from China. Image
2/ 'targeting our collaborators with some extremely unpleasant web pages in China' -> What is Peter smoking? Who has been putting up web pages in the most controlled internet in China? How can that collaboration be possibly threatened?
3/ 'and some have now received death threats to themselves and their families' -> well, isn't this a job for the Chinese Police? Do you really think that Bob from New Jersey is responsible for this?
4/ 'They have asked for any show of support we can give them.' -> Really, after telling you how some mad conspiracy theorists were entering China, setting up web pages and physically threatening Chinese scientists?
5/ Don't you realize that you were used by the Chinese authorities to control the vocabulary and debate and to push back at home and abroad?

When they threatened you with a break in cooperation and gave you a risible misery story about deaths threats you danced to their music. Image

@jhouse678 1/ Nope. Nobody will tell you.
The WHO will never ask - despite the kunming hospital being on record for having raised an alarm for unknown pneumonia alarm with the local CDC office at the time
@jhouse678 2/ , which should have reached the WHO and should be of interest to them. But I guess the CDC office had other priorities at the time and the WHO does not want to know.
@jhouse678 3/ Nor can anybody explain how they were all sent to the same hospital far from Mojiang, when there are many closer options. Or why they arrived there more or less in 2 groups, even the younger guy who was actually doing better and still went to that much further distant hospital

1/ Nice to see the NY Times confirming some of the points I made earlier about the pretend and limited one-day visit of the WHO to Wuhan on the 22nd Feb.

2/ 'Once in China, team members agreed the mission would not be credible unless they went to Wuhan, said H. Clifford Lane, a clinical director at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Wuhan was sealed, so six members — three Chinese and three international'
3/ experts — took a special train to the city. They stayed for about a day and visited two hospitals. They did not go to the market.
When the team gathered to write its report, the 25 members parsed every word for nearly three days.

@Ayjchan 1) Right indeed. And what are the relative probability of this happening naturally against the probability of a P2 or P3 lab leak? Even supposing a very low 1/50 leak per year from a single P3, not even considering much higher for P2, and considering only 3 P3 working on exactly
@Ayjchan 2) these viruses in Wuhan, you get 3/50 chance of a leak in a year. Wuhan has 1/100 of China population (and no natural reservoir of pathogens). Suppose a 1 SARS-like zoonotic event every 10 year across China, then you expect a Wuhan triggered zoonotic even every 1,000 years.
@Ayjchan 3) Result: Odds of lab leak triggered event vs zoonotic triggered event in Wuhan are around 60 to 1. With conservative estimates!
