people keep saying "it only has a 1% fatality rate" without carrying that math to its conclusion - 200,000 people in the US got a positive test today. today, 2,000 people found out they're going to die. and it'll happen again tomorrow. and the next day. and the next day.
many people are rightly pointing out that this fatality rate will go up once all the doctors and nurses get sick and the hospitals overflow & also that it doesn’t even address how many people will be left with long term illnesses that will eventually kill them.
honestly i’m extremely freaked out that more people aren’t extremely freaked out.
“oh it only kills old people and people who were already sick”

ok, how old is your mom? do any of your friends have asthma? shut the fuck up.
it’s like the scene in the mist where the guys don’t believe there is a tentacle monster outside & they laugh at the guy who says it’s dangerous & then a guy gets ripped in half by the tentacle monster and there’s blood everywhere & everyone’s like idk maybe there’s no monster???
the number of people on ventilators has doubled in the last 3 weeks. the covid you give your nana at thanksgiving will kill her by christmas.…

a three hour meeting with a four item agenda, a recipe for success*

(*long, meandering discussions)
as a layperson, i would say the primary problem with the city budget is that the plague is eternal and everyone is broke
lloyd snook asks if council should be asking for a current assessment on the actual, current need for every project included in this $74 million list of projects... perhaps priorities have shifted since the last budget season.

listening to rudy describe these affidavits & imagining the kind of person who would perjure themselves for a lame duck reality tv president
i can’t believe they finally cracked the case of how hugo chavez, george soros, and antifa worked together to steal the election for joseph robinette biden jr
i think it's very normal for about 25% of a press conference to be a vicious excoriation of the very idea of the press and the institution of journalism. just inviting the press over so you can tell them they suck and you hate them.

it is time for another exciting meeting of the parking advisory panel
consistency is nice but it's weird they've had the same agenda items basically for two years and nothing ever changes at all
this conversation has been going in circles for as long as i've known about the existence of this body & it's never, to my knowledge, come up for discussion by council.

you can also tweet your fleet of your tweet.
the tweet your fleet feature just embeds a screenshot of the fleet in a tweet, it doesn’t actually take you to the fleet?
if you tap a tweet embedded in a fleet, the screen you get to doesn’t have the bottom nav bar every other screen in the entire app has - you have to navigate back out via returning to the fleet & exiting fleets back to your timeline.

i need rudy giuliani to say something insane enough to make the 40 minutes of hold music i waited through worth it.
the only good thing about the pandemic is the increasing practice of allowing remote, telephonic listening to federal court hearings.
rudy was fumbling around, audibly rustling some papers so he could show the judge what an envelope is, i guess? and then there was a horrible high pitched noise and now it's just silence... this is going pretty well, i think.
