Also true!...

...though tbqh I do it primarily because I enjoy fighting the Government 😬
(Seriously, I hated tax class in law school. The Internal Revenue Code was *originally* quite logical and damn near elegant; the constant amendments without a wholesale re-write has turned it into a nightmare. You'd likely end up in prison taking tax advice from me.)
Not you too!

I'm having second thoughts about some of y'all... 😂
Tax was the only class, in all of law school, where I literally cried while working on the final exam

That shit was abominable
The strangest thing in the world is that my Tax prof was apparently a huge fan of me *outside of tax class* 😂 Supported me as SBA President, sent me clients, donated to my 2016 campaign

But I still nearly failed her class. And cried leading up to it.
Worse: it was a required class at my law school
Totally agreed on that. One of my former associates got into immigration law, and when I tried to help her it was confounding af
We don't talk about undergrad 😂 my grades were very bimodal because I was more interested in Student Government than academics

This opinion by Judge Matthew Brann, dismissing another Trump Campaign lawsuit in Pennsylvania, is very well-written

I'd encourage everyone to read it; it explains some of the key laws and precedents quite well

Because there's nothing for SCOTUS to do

➡️ If they affirm the decision, nothing changes

➡️ If they reverse – which simply won't happen on an evidentiary record like what the Trump people have put together – Dems in Congress object to counting the EVs
No. First appeal is "as of right" / must be heard. Everything after that (en banc review, SCOTUS) is optional

Amy blocked me back in 2017 when I pointed out there was no way for Trump to handpick replacements for Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell:
It's a painfully stupid tweet of a thing that won't happen

Doesn't matter. The original vote count happened, and Trump is behind; if a recount doesn't finish, Trump ends up still behind

This is vastly different from 2000

Doing my small part for democracy, serving as one of the legal observers for the recount in Durham

Zero discrepancies since 10am

Machines are manned in bipartisan pairs, feeding one ballot at a time

Before each machine is used, it's unlocked, a BOE person comes by with a flashlight, and all 3 inspect each part of the machine to make sure there are no hidden ballots and the initial count is zero
After the recounting is done, all three do another flashlight inspection to make sure no ballots got stuck. Then the machine is padlocked shut, taken to a storage room, and the next machine brought out

Reminder: Lin Wood (@LLinWood) is a paper tiger

A f*cking moron who may very well have been a minimally competent lawyer at some point in the distant past, now phoning it in with 💩 like this – but still getting paid based on his prior reputation
"Hire @LLinWood: total amateur hour!" would make one heck of an advertising campaign tbh

This is the type of stuff that gets people hit with a gatekeeper order

It's *hilarious* that it got filed by someone trying to intervene in a Trump LOLsuit
