AOC is pushing back against Democrats who want a more diverse cabinet. I’ve said for a while, and I’ll keep saying it: The DSA crowd doesn’t care about Civil Rights; they care about banks. That doesn’t mean all of their proposals are bad. But they really dont get civil rights.
She doesn’t seem to understand the basic argument for why you want diverse people with diverse life experience there, but also why it can be beneficial to turn the old boy network on its head: Diverse hires can have a network of other diverse people that they can then hire.
And finally, as a member of a minority myself, it’s incredibly powerful to see someone like you at the highest levels of government, culture, and business. It tells you, but also the majority population, that you are equal to them. So yeah, diverse hires matter.
Here are the quotes. wsj.com/livecoverage/l…

Computers are now generating fake Internet users, including remarkably real faces that don’t belong to anyone. The NYT has an amazing story up about this, with incredible animation showing how easy it is to create these fake people.
You can choose the age of your fake persona.
And the race and ethnicity.

Trump's Electoral College Coup: Win or lose, the example for the future is chilling. cyberdisobedience.substack.com/p/trumps-elect…
“I’m not convinced that Trump will pull off an Electoral College coup. Then again, I didn’t think Mitch McConnell would succeed in stealing a Supreme Court seat, or Trump an election with the help of the Russians and James Comey. Once burned, twice shy, as they say.”
"What if Biden weren’t ahead by tens of thousands of votes, but rather, like Bush v. Gore in 2000, one candidate were ahead by only 537 votes in on one state? Would GOP electors still be as unwilling declare a “failed election,” and throw their state’s votes to Trump?"

Giuliani’s people are now claiming that there’s massive amounts of “communist money” that stole the election for Biden!
Giuliani’s also claims that Joe Biden personally coordinated all the multi-state election fraud from his basement in Delaware!
Now trumps legal team is claiming the rich Jews stole the election too! Drink!

1/ Don’t beat up on Carrie for this take. She’s right, in that I’m sure many trump appointees wrestle with the fact that they’ve chosen to work for a fascist, and in their own way, are responsible for aiding and abetting the death of 250,000 Americans. But...
2/ That doesn’t make them good people. As my Aunt Aga once said to me in Greece: “Your self respect is worth more than a job.” These people gave chosen to abet evil. And they know. And it’s eating at them. How we judge them is entirely based on what they do with this knowledge.
3/ Did they quit as soon as they realized what a horrible human being there working for? Did they find a way to make amends? As a whistleblower, or simply by taking another job in which they can help people and begin to wipe the slate clean?

1/ If they’re going to keep pushing the Green New Deal as their answer to climate change, then we need to start having an open discussion about what the Green New Deal actually is, as most of the proposal has nothing to do with climate. I’d rather our proposal focus on climate.
2/ The debate isn’t whether we act decisively on climate, but rather, should our decisive climate proposal be about actually fighting climate change, or what GND does, guaranteeing every American: housing, higher ed, food, income, health care, obeying all Native treaties.
3/ Now, you may be for the federal government guaranteeing every American an income, a home, food, high education, health care, and obeying all Native treaties (whatever that means), but that’s not fighting cimate change. It’s hijacking the climate movement for YOUR pet issues.

I’m watching the 60 Minutes interview that Trump posted on Facebook. He was PISSED when he walked in the door. Something happened right before.
Within the first minute, Trump hit Lesley Stahl with an “excuse me” — meaning, she had already pissed him off by questioning one of his lies.
It is clear that Trump was PISSED OFF before he got to the interview with Lesley Stahl. Even during the small talk before the taping he was dour. I’d love to know what happened before he got there. This is why he walked out, he was pissed walking in.
