An ongoing thread of movies/TV shows/documentaries I've watched in 2021:
#1: The Minimalists: Less is Now on @NetflixIndia
In an age where we can buy any thing in the world with a few screentaps, why can't we buy happiness that lasts?
A short, superb documentary on the the rising 'minimalism movement'directed by one of my fav youtubers, @mattdavella Image
#2: #deathto2020 on @NetflixIndia
A hilarious mockumentary looking back at everything happened in 2020, the weirdest year in human history🤦‍♂️
Pakka fun & clever little film by the creators of #BlackMirror 🔥🔥🔥 Image
#3: if you're into food shows, Best Leftovers Ever on @NetflixIndia is good time pass. Home chefs compete to turn leftover food into brand new dishes...simple fun! Image
#4: The Judge(2014) on @NetflixIndia
A slow-burn legal drama on the outside, a moving father-son relationship on the inside. Both Robert Downey Jr & Robert Duvall hit it out of the park🔥 Image
#5: Bacurau(2019) 🔞 | @mubiindia
Had no idea where this film was going until...BOOM! It becomes a dystopian-western about a village under attack, giving you thrills + so much to think about at the same time. @beemji or @VetriMaaran will be 🔥🔥🔥 for a Tamil version! ImageImageImageImage
#6: Gamak Ghar(2019) on @mubiindia
This comes recommended by @baradwajrangan & for good reason...this isn't a film, it's like stepping into someone's memories🥲 You can almost taste the mangoes, smell the frying fish & FEEL the 'house', the protagonist of the 'story'. BEAUTY♥️ ImageImageImage
#7: Finally watched #KGFchapter1 after you guys prepared me for it but apart from the over build-up, continuous action scenes, cocaine-fueled editing & a heroine who is always angry like hulk....
I can understand why it works! 2nd half n last hour is >>> 1st half✌✌ Image
#8: #Maara looks so visually AMAZING but other than that, was just not able to connect or stay engaged..not that I was comparing it to Charlie 'cause I hardly remember that film either🤷‍♂️ Image
#9: Rewatched Badlapur(2015) & it somehow feels like a timeless film, like an old novel which has a universe of its own.
Sriram Raghavan is a national treasure & he deserves so much more appreciation 🙏🙏🙏 ImageImage
#10: #Sir on @NetflixIndia
A quintessential slice-of-life 'Bombay film'; a wonderfully lived-in story about a relationship that exposes the terrible class divide in our country. A doomed romance that is high on sexual tension, but equally high on sweetness & affection. Watch! Image
#11: Really loved #MasterFilm , with @Dir_Lokesh creating a brand new canvas that lets @actorvijay play with shades we've not seen in a while.
Perhaps good commercial films need to be watched not on FDFS but after a breathing space🤔 Lots to love❤

Lokesh: A New Hope! Image
#12: Watched White Tiger(2021) years after I read the book(I didn't remember much of it) & honestly, I dont get the claim about the film showcasing 'poverty porn'. It's an intense, intriguing, deftly written(except the last 15 mins) film that reflects our country's reality🤷‍♂️ Image
#13: Andre and his Olive Tree | @NetflixIndia
An intimate documentary about Andre Chang, one of the most prolific Asian chefs who decides close his world-famous restaurant at its peak to pursue his true calling.
Teared up @ the end cause it's so close to my life's purpose 🥲🥲🥲 Image
#14: a little late to the party but watched The Great Indian Kitchen last night, & never have i been so angry, so astonished & so wanting to change a few things about myself after a film.
Every Indian man needs to watch this.
Damn. Image
#15: I'm in a space where I can't invest too much time in a fictional show so randomly started watching Instant Hotel, a reality show with a really cool concept💥

Got the entire fam hooked to this effortlessly entertaining show😬 Image
#16: Pitta Kathalu
This the Netflix Original the Telugu industry needs, but not the one it deserves🤷‍♂️ A few sparks in Tharun Bhasker's and Nag Ashwin's segments aside, there isn't much..except the one with Jagapathi Babu & Amala Paul: I've never laughed this hard in ages😂🙏 Image
#17: I Care A Lot | @NetflixIndia
Not perfect. Far from it. But SO. MUCH. FUN.
Perfect Saturday night movie👌👌👌

ps: Rosamund Pike is such a badass💥💥💥 Image
#18: Crime Scene: The Vanishing at Cecil Hotel
Anyone who has dreams of going to America should watch this😂
But other than that, a solid true crime series that will spook you out right from the first minute. Last few episodes slightly dip but still, pretty great👍 Image
#20: Broken Hearts Gallery on @PrimeVideoIN
Sweet little fun Sunday kinda film👌 If you're looking to not use your brains n watch a nice romcom, this is it👇 Image
#22: Another Round(2020)
On the surface, it's a film about drinking. But dig a little deeper & you discover: friendship, family, education, community, happiness, sadness, loneliness, purpose & so much more.
I connected HARD with this film & the last 15 mins: PURE JOY.
Must watch. Image
#23: Girl on the Train(2021)
1) A film can be bad but there are redeeming things even in a bad film. 2) A film can even be so bad that they're good.
This film is neither so I'm just gonna leave you with the tags attached to the Google search for this film which are on point. ImageImage
#24: Unorthodox | Drama Miniseries on @NetflixIndia
If you've ever felt that your life is being dictated by the rules of your community/society, wait until you watch this.
A wonderfully written, well-performed show about breaking away from the imaginary chains that hold us down Image
#25: Wandavision | @DisneyPlusHS
I'm not a Superhero fan myself but the trailers hooked me to this WILDLY ORIGINAL show.
Except a bland finale, it feels like Marvel channeled their inner Kamal Hassan, taking HUGE risk in terms of storytelling to give something so new💥💥 Image
#26: #Moxie | @NetflixIndia
Extremely enjoyable feminist film that actually gives its young women the agency, without creating a male saviour. It's got the vibes of late 90s early 2000s Hollywood 'high school films', but super-relevant✌
Also Amy Poehler is bae❤ Image
#27: Nenjam Marappathillai
Far from perfect but seriously...how gratifying it is to see a filmmaker unleash himself & also find an actor who's dying to do the same🔥
A film that's so wacky but also, one that can be interpreted in so many ways.
More of this, @selvaraghavan🙏 Image
#28: Jathi Ratnalu(2021)
Watched it without subs so second half la konjam 😴😴😴

But apart from that, seemed like a really well-produced comedy🤘

Also, @NaveenPolishety is a national treasure💥💥💥 Image
#29: Picasso(2019)
A unique little film which definitely deserves a watch. On one side, its hyper-nostalgic nature will transport u to childhood. N suddenly, it becomes a meta film about passion, n the things that come in the way of it
Pls try, it's just over 1 hour long🙏 Image
#30: The Serpent on @NetflixIndia
Really cool new show about Charles Sobhraj, one of history's smoothest killers who I used to read about in general knowledge books when I was small🙊
Gripping👌👌 Image
#31: Joji(2021) on @PrimeVideoIN
Shot like a masterpiece, performed to perfection by the entire cast but for some reason, didn't seem convincing overall. Found it very difficult to get invested in Joji's story cause I didn't know what he even wanted🤷‍♂️ Image
#33: Steve Jobs(2015)
Lot of folks find this version 'un-cinematic' & 'too talky' but tbh I loved this Danny Boyle-Aaron Sorkin-Fassbender for the way it's structured & how it captures the essence of the man without becoming a Wikipedia page, like the Ashton Kutcher one
Any fans? Image
#34: Shaan(1980)
This was mentioned in #TheInternetSaidSo & it has a villain who has his own island, & an office pimped out with remote controls for everything incl revolving chairs that drop down into the water for enemies to be fed to crocodiles...so I had to watch it.
FUN. Image
#35: Mandela(2021)
The job of a good satire is to confuse you whether to laugh about your country or cry about it😂😭 And in that respect, Mandela hits every ball out of the stadium.
Genuinely emotional, entertaining & thought-provoking👌
Must-watch💥 Image
#36: Burning(2018)
One of those movies where the explanation articles of the movie were more exciting than the movie itself:/
Should've been named 'Sim' instead of Burning😒 Image
#37: All the President's Men(1976)
A scandal involving the President. A hunt for the truth. A story that will never ever see the light of the day in India, and definitely not in today's India🤷‍♂️
Classic film👌 ImageImageImage
#38: Maqbool(2003)
Everyone who's been praising Joji has to watch the OG adaptation of Macbeth💥
Vishal Bhardwaj & Irrfan at their best and Tabu😍😍😍 Image
#39: Chhoti Si Baat(1975)
An under-confident, aloof man tries to woo the woman of his dreams.
Simple, sweet, charming joyride & also, a quintessential 'Bombay film'❤ ImageImage
#40: The Good, The Bad, The Weird(2008)
I'm a big fan of Westerns but never did I think I'd see something called a 'Korean Western' & have so much fun watching it😂✊✊✊
Non-stop action, UNBELIEVABLY SHOT set pieces💥
Imagining a South remake with Allu Arjun, Vjs & FaFa😂 Image
#41: Rewatching Silicon Valley on @DisneyPlusHS , one of my favourite comedy shows that gives you an insight into the unexpectedly big, bad, weird world of the Tech startup world...UNMISSABLE if you're into tech/entrepreneurship👌👌👌 Image
#42: The Host(2006) | @NetflixIndia

This film is living proof that you can take ANY story but what matters is the filmmaker’s vision.
Bong Joon-Ho takes the Monster movie genre & turns it into a thrilling, emotional work of art that's also a social commentary🔥

WHAT A FILM. Image
#43: A Taxi Driver(2017)
Watching foreign films help us get to know about other cultures & develop new perspectives, but sometimes, they make us realise how we're all the same in the face of adversity & oppression.
This film SHOOK me with that realisation. Image
#44: I Know this much is True(2020)
Maybe you'll NOT watch this Miniseries.
It's too real, heartbreaking & moving.
It's not a bingeworthy thriller/comedy.
It's about brotherhood, forgiveness, second chances & life itself.
But maybe you'll try it.
& that's all I hope for. Image
#45: Karnan(2021)
Shivering. Speechless. Image
#46: Ajeeb Dastaans(2021)
An anthology with 4 shorts, with #1, #2 & #4 solely existing to prove how superior #3 is.
Geeli Pucchi by @ghaywan blends caste & sexuality in a deeply affecting way, with a strong @aditiraohydari & FLAWLESS @konkonas elevating it to a new level🔥 Image
#47: Godfather 2(1974)
Rewatching this classic as an adult is just such a different vibe, completely transporting you to a different place n time❤
Just wish I had a much bigger screen for a more immersive experience😔

Also, Robert De Niro as young Vito Corleone 😍😍😍 ImageImageImageImage
#48: Minari(2020)
The headline on the poster is true: this film is like a warm hug in the shitstorm that is our lives right now❤
Must-watch if you need a pick-me-up. Image
#49: Ullam Ketkumae
Why don't they make college films like this anymore😭
Also, why aren't Pooja & Laila acting😔 Image
#50: Rhythm(2000)
One of the most mature Tamil films I've seen from this time period. So much restraint in the performances, emotions, dialogues & humour❤
No idea why it took me so long to watch it🤷‍♂️

Also, Meena😍 Image
#51: Nomadland(2020)
A slow-burn meditative experience served to us at the right time, while we're all at home: it'll make you yearn to go out and explore the world but at the same time, will make you grateful for everything you have😌 Image
#52: The Father(2020)
Was expecting to watch a bittersweet father-daughter story but HOLY SHIT THIS JUST TURNED INTO SOMETHING ELSE🤯
A mindfuck film that also fucks with your heart & your emotions, with a beast of a performance by Anthony Hopkins. WHAT. A. LEGEND! Image
#53: The Game(1997)
The closest David Fincher has come to making a masala film🔥
A damn good mystery thriller to take your mind off things with an end that you'll either love or hate...no middle ground🤙 Image
#54: Crazy Stupid Love(2011)
When you've had a terrible day, rewatching movies like these don't solve your problems, but ease your mind enough to start the next day♥️
If you haven't watched this one yet, it's easily one of the best rom-coms ever made & Ryan Gosling is 😰😰😰 Image
#55: Yesterday(2019)
Everyone who loves movies about music should watch this❤
And if you love The Beatles by any chance, you're in for a treat!
A complete joyride that gets elevated because of Danny Boyle's signature on it...beauty😌 Image
#56: The Wailing(2016)
Horror is my least favourite genre but decided to watch this owing to my Korean Movie Marathon and...I've never seen anything like it.
Was whispering WTF at regular intervals & especially at the end. Definitely deserves rewatches!
@PrimeVideoIN Image
#57: Demolition(2015)
A funny, unsettling, heart-wrenching & deeply affecting portrayal of grief, & how human beings deal with grief in their own ways
And while Jake Gyllenhaal's attractiveness makes even grief sexy, he's SUCH a blessed performer🔥
@NetflixIndia Image
#58: Searching for Sheela(2021) | @NetflixIndia
When you already have such a strong docuseries like Wild Wild Country, not really sure what was the point of making this documentary. Offers nothing new, makes you feel no emotion, doesn't change any perspective🤷 Image
#59: Run Fatboy Run(2007)
Another fun, hilarious & warm film which fits under the "they just dont make 'em like these anymore" category♥️
Written by & Starring the inimitable Simon Pegg & Directed by David Schwimmer(Ross from Friends)! Image
#60: Monster(2019)
In the recent conversation with @baradwajrangan, @iam_SJSuryah said Monster will be a blockbuster if it's made with SRK...didn't believe it until I actually watched it last night.
Hilarious, thrilling, relatable & so warm!♥️
Wishing for SJS to win even bigger🙏 Image
#61: Nobody(2021)
When Better Call Saul meets Clint Eastwood meets John Wick, the result is something truly EXPLOSIVE🔥🔥🔥
Omfg this film is SO. MUCH. FUN! Image
#62: People Like Us(2012) | @PrimeVideoIN
Someone on Twitter/YT suggested me to watch this movie & I went in not expecting much, but what I got was a heartfelt tale about flawed people trying to become whole by making amends with the most important people in the world: family♥️ Image
#63: The Americans(2013-2018) | @DisneyPlusHS
Started watching this series thanks to @craziebawa 's recco & right from the 1st episode: HOOKED.
Through with season 1 n it keeps getting better...if YOU are into spy thrillers...THIS IS IT.
Read the one-line & you'll know why! Image
#64: Contact(1997)
Not sure why this film isn't popular , but for a huge 'space' & Interstellar fan like me, this one just took me somewhere else.
Based on the book by Carl Sagan(pls look him up), Contact is a slow-burn sci-fi film that just EXPLODES in the final act. Classic. ImageImageImageImage
#65: Trumbo(2015) | @PrimeVideoIN
Why does a creator create? Self-satisfaction? Recognition? Or for the greater good? And in the pursuit of these, what does a creator lose?
A fantastic film with a terrific @BryanCranston that's set in the 40s-70s but is still relevant today🔥 ImageImageImageImage
#66: Nayattu(2021) | @NetflixIndia
Very well-crafted, very engaging thriller but not sure how memorable it is. Good while it lasted👌 Image
#67: Cinema Bandi(2021)
I started watching Sardar Ka Grandson before this & stopped it after 20 min(should've stopped 18 Mins before that)
Started playing this & my only wish is for the big spenders in Bollywood to watch this gem & diversify their investments❤
Unmissable👌 Image
#68: Kala(2021) on @PrimeVideoIN
In an interview with @baradwajrangan, director Ram says every film needs a thesis.
Never thought the pointlessness of male ego could be used as a thesis to make a stylized, layered Action film like this🔥
Unbelievably good! Image
#69: TVF Aspirants | YouTube
TVF shows are a masterclass in taking a particular world(startups, college, hostel entrance exam coaching) & creating a compelling show for the youth & this time, they've made a wonderful, mature show about UPSC aspirants👌
Sandeep bhaiya character=♥️ Image
#70: Nadodikkattu(1987) | @mubiindia
Loved the vibe of this hilarious film that also made me nostalgic for Chennai since it's mostly shot here(I haven't stepped out in ages) but hands down, this film, this entire 80s vibe belongs to Shobana. I just can't ImageImageImageImage
#71: Kireedam(1989) @DisneyPlusHS
The Mohanlal binge continues & slowly I begin to understand why this man is such a phenomenon.
Within the space of a father-son drama, how he portrays a principled man descending SLOWLY into madness is 🔥🔥🔥 ImageImageImage
#72: Thanmathra(2005) @DisneyPlusHS
This is the film that broke me. Mohanlal plays the 'ideal dad' who gets diagnosed with Alzheimer's & how his family(& us) deal with the pain of watching him disintegrate.
That scene in his office will always haunt me.
Classic. ImageImageImage
#73: Guru(1997) | YouTube
This film is more relevant today than it was back in the 90s. Totally get why this the official entry to the Oscars...UNBELIEVABLE story that shouldn't be spoiled..forget everything else & watch here(with english subs): ImageImageImage
#74: June(2019) @DisneyPlusHS
Like I've said a million times before, Premam is one of my favourite movies of all time...this is kind of a female version on the surface but it goes so much deeper & by the end, it feels like you've LIVED June's life.
@rajisha_vijayan is just♥️♥️♥️ ImageImageImage
#75: Aarkkariyam(2021) @PrimeVideoIN
Great setup, carries forward slowly & beautifully to a strange end that doesn't really pay off for the time we invested in it
Wonderfully shot though ImageImageImage
#76: Bill Burr: Paper Tiger | @NetflixIndia
This will either be the most offensive comedy special on the planet or the most therapeutic couple of hours...depending on YOUR worldview.
A hilarious, cathartic work of art🔥🔥🔥 Image
#77: Thoovanathumbikal(1987) | @DisneyPlusHS
My introduction to this force of nature called Padmarajan, whose universe full of grey, flawed characters yearning for love & acceptance is such a breath of fresh air.
Really can't believe this was made in the 80s.
Pls, just watch🙏 Image
#78: Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal(1986) @DisneyPlusHS
Another Padmarajan film, another Lalettan masterclass.
A layered family drama which takes inspiration from the biblical Book of Songs & elevates it to a beautiful, rare love story
Also, Thilakan. What. a. performer. ImageImage
#79: Family Man Season 2
Arguably, one of the few Indian shows that has the potential to become a full-fledged franchise & cinematic universe.
Insanely addictive show with great characters, even better casting & finally, one show that shows Chennai in such a lived-in manner👌👌👌 Image
#80: Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar(2021) @PrimeVideoIN
I will watch anything that Dibakar Bannerjee makes but this is not his best work. Wish the rest of the film had a similar energy as the beginning 🤷 Image
#81: Your Name(2016) by Makoto Shinkai
This works beyond just a regular anime film for me...It is my dream to bring such kind of storytelling in India to use the format of anime to tell truly Indian stories...needs a cultural change, but...
Someday🥲 ImageImageImage
#82: Mare of Easttown @DisneyPlusHS
HBO's known for creating great shows but I just wonder: HOW DO THEY DO THIS EVERY F***ING TIME?
A super-bingeworthy murder mystery with a PERFECT Kate Winslet that provides great twists & entertains, but also goes a step further...pls watch!🙏 Image
#83: #SarpattaParambarai (2021) by @beemji
I Don't remember...
the last time a 3-hour film gave me such pure satisfaction...
the last time a film made me miss the theatres...
Or the last time EVERYTHING worked in a film...

Wow.
Just...wow. Image
#84: Cuba and the Cameraman on @NetflixIndia
Checked it out after @Vishal1Menon 's tweet & I can't express how moved I felt through this.
A bittersweet journey of a country, its people, their hardships, friendships, relationships, hopes & dreams.
Much like life itself. Image
#85: The Innocent (Miniseries) | @NetflixIndia
After Mare of Easttown, found a super-bingeworthy show that kept me hooked & trying to guess every permutation/combination of the suspense.
Tons of layers like an Onion that refuses to show what's really inside.
TW: Violence/Gore Image
#86: Shershaah(2021) on @PrimeVideoIN
Wanted this to be good for the sake of Siddharth Malhotra & Vishnuvardhan(2 artists with potential who haven't gotten their due in the recent past) & it ends up being pretty good. Isn't perfect but a really earnest, superbly shot war film✌️ Image
#87: Kuruthi(2021) | @PrimeVideoIN
Judging by the first 15-20 minutes, I had no idea what this film was gonna turn into! An intense, nail-biting thriller which also mirrors what's happening in our country & all over the world. Hateful Eight vibes🔥
Also, the cinematography👌👌👌 Image
#88: Saaransh(1984) | @PrimeVideoIN
The sad part: I know I won't be able to convince many ppl to watch this masterpiece because it's 'old'.
The good part: OTT makes such films discoverable & I can try convincing at least 1 person to watch it.
This is 1 such attempt. Pls watch🙏 Image
#89: #MythicQuest | @AppleTV
A sitcom set in the video game industry that's so much more than a sitcom, thanks to its standalone episodes(S1E5, S2E6) that elevate the series to unique work of art. The fucking genius of those episodes & the creators is literally making me tremble Image
#90: Ted Lasso | @AppleTV
While I'd love to talk more about it when I'm done with Season 2, this show has become a portal to a less-harsh, kinder world which restores your faith in people. If I could describe this show in less than 5 words, I'd say 'try not to smile' Image
#91: Woman in the Window | @NetflixIndia
Got lured into watching this cause of Amy Adams(also has a great supporting cast) but all the cast & all the wacky cinematography & all the buildup in the world cannot elevate a half-baked, hollow story🤷‍♂️ Image
#92: Mumbai Diaries: 26/11 | @PrimeVideoIN
I might have liked it a little more because of the personal connect to the city & where the action takes place, but it still doesn't change what a well-executed, addictive show this is.
Immensely watchable Image
#93: Turning Point: 9/11 & the War on Terror | @NetflixIndia
If you think you knew enough about one of the most horrendous acts of terror in history, this docuseries will open you up to so much more, going back and forth in time that'll make u think: who is the real terrorist? Image
#94: Mr.Corman | @AppleTV
I'm not sure how many would like this show, but I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a personality & would watch anything he's in...to know that he's the creator of this show, I got hooked.
Definitely worth a try for its unique telling of a mundane subject Image
#95: Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings(2021)
Probably one of my favourite Marvel films ever. Perfect blend of the Marvel fandom & mythology to create a superhero film that feels meditative.

Just made me think when we're gonna a film like this with Indian representation😓 Image
#96: Nine Perfect Strangers | @PrimeVideoIN
Went in expecting something dystopian on the lines of Black Mirror, but it went in a completely different direction...not that it's a bad thing.
Familiar premise but holds your attention while it lasts Image
#97: Sex Education S3
Another show that makes me so happy that it exists, & sad that it mostly will never be made in a country like India, a society that really needs something like this.
But anywho, one of the most compassionate shows ever created♥️ Image
#98: Love Story(2021)
Far from perfect, but a much-needed commercial take on an issue that's been plaguing our country from the beginning of time.
A bit abrupt in places n could've been edited better, but I rooted for Rhevanth & Mouni throughout♥️ Image
#99: Doctor(2021)
THIS is why I've missed movie theatres for so long: pure, pure FUN🥲
When it comes to black comedy(and the casting for it), @Nelsondilpkumar is a #BEAST 😏
@RedinKingsley 🤣🤣🙏🙏🙏 Image
#100: No Time to Die(2021)
I don't know if it worked for Bond fans or not but for me...meh🤷‍♀️
Think I expected far too much from Fukunaga
But Ana De Armas was ♥️ ImageImage
#101: House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths | @NetflixIndia
One of those docuseries that works cause of how the unbelievable original story, not cause of its making.
Felt more engaged when my friend narrated the incident to me in 2018
But if you didnt know about the case, watch💥 Image
#102: Little Things S4
While it took some time to connect , Not too many shows capture modern young couples trying to juggle careers, insecurities, families & their relationship: a life built on friendship & mutual respect.
For that, I'll always be grateful to this show♥️ Image
#103: Squid Game @NetflixIndia
Far from being a perfect show, but has all the trappings that make it thoroughly engaging, bingeworthy & impactful on pop culture.
A video about its success & the story behind that success:
#104: Sardar Udham | @PrimeVideoIN
A slow-burn character study of a man who dedicated his entire life to a single cause: freedom. The same freedom which we take for granted.
The last 45 minutes just broke me💔 Image
#105: Only Murders in the Building @DisneyPlusHS
A murder mystery that fuses old-world charm with present-day pop culture, resulting in one of the most unique shows I've seen in quite a while💥
Funny, entertaining, super-meta & superbly crafted: Episode 7... GENIUS🔥🔥🔥 Image
#106: Dune(2021)
Others make sci-fi, Denis Villeneuve makes ART.
Couldn't care much for the story or characters but what a gorgeous-looking universe & a goosebump-inducing soundscape he's created for us🙌
PS: Hans Zimmer is god. Image
#107: Eternals(2021)
Gorgeous, inclusive film with a great concept but...pretty boring.
Just happy that Asian filmmakers like Chloe Zhao are getting opportunities to handle such mammoth projects and with time, the films will only get better💥 Image
#108: #JaiBhim
This film isn't subtle or some cinematic masterpiece.
But for its intended audience, it hits home.
Engaging, moving & invokes empathy...a star like @Suriya_offl becomes part of the story to reach a wider audience, n not the center of attention..which is great♥️ Image
#109: Meenakshi Sundareshwar(2021) @NetflixIndia
In terms of cinematography, production design, music @ @sanyamalhotra07 's efforts , this film is a DREAM.
In terms of representation, cultural references, story & sub-plots...it's a NIGHTMARE.
Dear Bollywood, just...WHY? Image
#110: Last Night in Soho(2021)
I'm a bit biased towards @edgarwright because I've always loved being in his cinematic universe, including this one. The way the music, editing & visuals seamlessly flow into each other💥
End could've been better but still, entertaining AF. Image
#111: Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham(2021)
Had immense potential to be a great comedy but gets weighed down by the burden of every second being overstuffed with jokes, which gets a bit tiring...still pretty enjoyable!
Nivin Pauly's comic timing tho🔥🔥🔥 Image
#112: #Maanadu
What happens when every department of a film decides to go BEAST MODE?
A pure masala entertainer that thankfully doesn't take the audience for granted🔥🔥🔥

Also, @iam_SJSuryah isn't an actor. He's a genre 🔥

@vp_offl @Cinemainmygenes @thisisysr #STR Image
#113: Sooryavanshi(2021)
#114: Kanda Naal Mudhal(2005)
Got to watch this after all these years but it's a film that's more progressive than most films of today ✌️
The ideas of equality, dilemma of choosing the right partner, early 2000s vibe, Laila-@Prasanna_actor Chemistry & peak @thisisysr ...gold💛 Image
#115: Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year(2009)
Rewatched it cause I felt I needed a bit of a motivational push & there's no better movie to do that🥲 Took me back to the early days of #FullyFilmy 😌
Aspiring entrepreneurs or anyone who wants to start somethin, MUST WATCH🔥 Image
#116: The Lighthouse
As mindfuck as this was(don't think the director also knew what exactly he was making), i just couldn't stop watching because of the way it's shot & how it creates pure intrigue
Switch off all the lights at home n watch! Image
#117: Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
Comedy is the best way to drive home and deliver a message, and @ayushmannk has been doing this to perfection over the last few years..he just becomes a chameleon and OWNS this role as a 'gym body' stuck between 2 worlds💪
FUN FILM! Image
#118: Decoupled | @NetflixIndia
Expected a lot more with Maddy playing a sociopathic writer but ends up being another mediocre Indian series from Netflix, oozing with cringe.
But still isn't as unwatchable as reviews make it out to be. Okay for watching while scrolling ur phone Image
#119: Succession: S3 | @DisneyPlusHS
Easily the best show right now, and one of the best shows of all time.
No guns, no action, no violence...yet every scene is filled with so much tension+drama that makes you go through a roller-coaster of emotions.

#120: Hello Ladies | @DisneyPlusHS
If you're looking for a tension-free casual binge, THIS is what you need
Pretty funny show about an age-old premise: an awkward geek trying to find a partner & consistently failing at it Image
#121: #ROCKY
A lion never hurries. It waits calmly & when the time is right, it pounces on its prey.
Rocky is that lion of a film that explodes with artistic violence & originality.
@ArunMatheswaran : the new voice Tamil Cinema needs🔥
MUST be experienced only in theatres.

@kshreyaas didn't shoot, he made moving paintings & @DarbukaSiva's score is perfect company, subtle when it needs to be & explosive when u least expect it(building fight🔥🔥🔥)
@VigneshShivN THANK YOU for letting us experience the maker's vision in all its gory glory🙏

Dhanush's charm kept me watching till the end but other than that...what was this film? ImageImage
#123: The Power of the Dog | @NetflixIndia
The message(toxic masculinity) is great, the bottle(visuals) is gorgeous, but the wine is rather bland, leaving you with absolutely no high. Image

Ok. That's it. We have a legit Indian superhero film now🔥🔥🔥
Now waiting for @ayushmannk to remake this immensely-entertaining, beautifully-rooted origin story for the Hindi belt
Hope this is a new beginning for the genre in India🙏🙏🙏 Image

Oh man. It's been SO long since such a big-ticket feel-good experience♥️ just what this terrible year needed to end with, leaving us with the one thing we all need the most right now: hope🥲
@RanveerOfficial is GREAT, but @JiivaOfficial is just😍😍😍 as Cheeka💥 Image

An ongoing thread of movies/TV shows/documentaries I've watched in 2022🍿🧵
#1 Don't Look Up(2021) | @NetflixIndia
A hilarious satire that sums up the world we live in(for now)
DiCaprio's 🔥🔥🔥 monologue is exactly everything wrong with us today and it hits so hard💥 ImageImage
#2 Kadaseela Biriyani(2021) | @NetflixIndia
Probably one of the most unique, wonderfully shot Tamil films of the recent past?
Another film that gives Tamil Cinema a an original new cinematic voice in the form of Nishanth Kalidindi💥 Image

It's been a shitty year for the world but for cinema, it's actually been better than expected!

MY 15 FAVOURITE FILMS of 2020: A thread
#15: Nasir/Social Dilemma
2 films that really made a deep, lasting impact on me, but for different reasons. One film made me question where we're heading as a nation, and the other made me wonder where we're heading as a species
#14: Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo
If there was only some way to magically remove the foot-fetish portions, this film was genuine FUN. A simple story told with the typical Telugu 'epic' narrative, combined with an insane soundtrack that made India fall in love with @davidwarner31 again

To who ever is asking about the name change(again) of our YouTube channel from Fully back to Fully Filmy, a few points:
When we first changed the channel's name to Fully on Feb 9, 2018:

Positives:
1) tried a lot of different subjects
2) discovered animation as one of our strengths
3) we crossed 1 mil, 2 mil, 3 mil with our videos
4) subscriber base grew a lot
Negatives:
1) while experimenting a lot, we lost focus + direction
2) lost consistency because of the lack of direction
