People who believe one stupid conspiracy theory are more likely to believe other stupid conspiracy theories. GMO skeptics and anti-vaxxers are more likely to be 9/11 Truthers etc motherjones.com/environment/20…
The first time people tried to cancel me was bc of this story. I wrote social copy that was like “vaccinate your kids, you ignorant whack jobs” & anti-vaxxers lost it. I was freaked out and then my bosses were like “you think we’re going to fire you bc anti-vaxxers are mad?” Lol
So young, so innocent.

The thing that makes me the most nervous about Twitter's decision to ban Trump is how uniformly people in my feed are celebrating it. It's a pretty huge thing they just did. I hope they've thought about it a lot & gamed it out because I know for certain people on Twitter haven't.
It seems like a pretty likely suspect to be a decision that in the future people privately whisper "well yeah in retrospect that was a mistake"
There are so many ways it could go wrong: 1) the platforms, pressured to give a mouse a glass of milk, start to play more of a gatekeeper role 2) these lunatics go off into another chamber that grows and blossoms and the media totally missed and is unprepared for 3) ??
BuzzFeed is one of the most interesting things of the last decade. Ben sort of shows why in this column. It was so innovative and was an incubator for so much of the current web, but it also was this thing that was predicated on a less politicized web.
A moment I’ll never forget as long as I live was being at a party in 2014 and all these people were talking about politics and asked me about my opinions about health care policy and I was like “the happy hours I go to we normally talk about BuzzFeed quizzes”
The 111th Congress passed more significant legislation than virtually any congress in decades but there were a bunch of things they should have done that they left on the table. Given that, I find it hard to believe spending months on GWB stuff would have been a good choice.
I guarantee that we will look back on the 117th congress and say “they should have moved faster on TK" whether the Dems retain control in the midterms or not bbut especially if they lose control
I would very much like the democrats to do everything they can on earth to pass a bunch of meaningful legislation as quickly as possible both for short term stuff like checks and long term stuff.
One group of cops who seem not great at their jobs is Internal Affairs. Not many police arrests in the world but doesn’t seem like anyone actually doubts there is police crime.
In the wonderful documentary 16 Shots about the Laquan McDonald murder, there is this one mention of the family lawyer talking to internal affairs and getting the runaround. Then they play no part in the revelations about the murder. Like, that’s your one job, Internal Affairs.
I get that it’s a hard job to be Internal Affairs but they should just hire more of them and pay them better or something so that the IA cops are really really good. They should also have slightly better surveillance equipment so the normal cops don’t know what to look for.
