The federal government published straight up climate denial with public money. This is fwd:fwd:re: levels of garbage, copyrighted to the @WHOSTP
What's the German word for secondhand embarrassment and simultaneous rage?
"graphic design and climate denial are my passions"
OSTP is distancing itself from the climate denial pamphlets made with its name and copyright on it
UPDATE: OSTP tells me it "does not have intention to formalize these” climate denial flyers. Story TK
🚨 OSTP “does not have intention” to officially publish the climate denial flyers released in its name this week. No answer on how/why they were released, who (if anyone) in the office knew about them or if federal folks involved will face repercussions earther.gizmodo.com/trump-official…
It appears the climate denial flyers have backfired earther.gizmodo.com/trump-official…

After @AOC noted every Medicare for All co-sponsor won reelection, I took a dive into the Green New Deal. Of the 93 co-sponsors who ran for reelection, all but two won (and three of four co-sponsors in swing districts won). Pretty good imho! earther.gizmodo.com/the-green-new-…
@AOC Let's also not forget one of the Green New Deal Senate co-sponsors is the vice president-elect! Saying progressive policies held Democrats back from expanding their House majority/taking the Senate just doesn't hold water with data available so far
Also this. The GND and M4A are good for people and planet

Thanks to @emorwee for introducing me to the phrase "petro-masculinity" in this excellent piece on the Proud Boys heated.world/p/proud-boys-a…
I heard from the researcher who coined the term "petro-masculinity" and wanted to share her full quote because I think it's really good context for the highway takeovers as well as Trump's clunky "suburban housewife" appeals

There are a lot of things that are disqualifying about her but this is way up there
If you can't form a "firm view" on mountains of evidence produced meticulously over more than a century of research, you are not qualified to sit on the highest court and rule on cases that will decide the fate of millions of Americans and generations to come
This answer plus her whole originalist schtick that the "constitutional text means what it did at the time it was ratified" are just a fucking disaster for the climate

It's uncanny how fast American conservative media and the Facebook fever swamps are following the exact same playbook their Australian counterparts did during the catastrophic bushfire season earther.gizmodo.com/australia-burn…

In related news, research published this week showed Trump voting districts in evacuated at lower rates during Hurricane Irma. The researchers posit it was in part because conservative media downplayed a *Category 5 hurricane* earther.gizmodo.com/conservative-m…

Political journalists: there are better ways to ask this type of question if you want any chance at a meaningful response. Consider...
-Do you understand how climate change can interact w/ hurricanes?
-Why aren't you preparing for impacts like sea level rise & ⬆️ heavy rain?
-What are your views on climate adaptation?
-Do you understand the risks of your policies, particularly on carbon pollution?
