Every day is stressful. That’s a huge part of what one signs up for when starting something important. There are good times and very, very hard times. But, there are ways to manage the stress, and they matter - a lot.
Meditating daily is essential for me. I’ve meditated since I was 15 years old or so, sometimes more, sometimes less. I found a local Buddhist center that holds daily sits, and while not my tradition (I tend towards Zen, they practice Visspayana), it’s the group that matters.
I also try to take a walk every day, a habit inspired by my good friend, investor, and mentor @alexiskold. I know, you don’t think you have time. You do. Take even 15 minutes. The perspective change clears the mind, and the exercise doesn’t hurt.
Speaking of exercise, take care of yourself. For me, it’s Apple Fitness - all of it. Rowing, running, biking, weights, core, yoga, HIIT. I rotate daily, 45-60 mins at the end of the day, separating my workday from the few hours in which I can cook and/or eat dinner with my wife.
Good food matters, too. Eat real food, mostly vegetables, not too much. I’m an omnivore and love to cook, but find some way to manage what you consume. Avoid crazy fad diets. If you’re staring at 0, try @noom - they couple science and motivation really well.
I also find sleep is the secret weapon. I’ve had insomnia my entire life, so I read in bed until I fall asleep most nights, but try for 6.5-8 hours. Consistently getting enough rest dramatically improved my mood, my output, and my ability to solve problems.
Finally, try to take the long perspective. As founders, we build from passion and determination, but remember that you - the human who is living this one amazing existence - are not the job you do. Be ethical. Be fair. Be kind, including to yourself. Especially to yourself.

A competitor of ours reported a major hack yesterday. One of their certificates was compromised, and client data was likely lost. I’ve heard some ask for us to capitalize upon this, reach out and talk about how my company is better, etc.; a few thoughts here.
First, I instructed our team that under no circumstances were we to do anything of the sort. Two reasons: first, nobody is unhackable, no matter how well thought out their security posture is. Second, and more important, it’s not who @greathorn is, and it’s not how we operate.
We’ve also shied away from talking about SolarWinds, or shaming organizations breached as part of the attack. Our place is to help organizations see and quantify the risks that most other email security vendors ignore, and then provide our customers with the means to secure them.
