in 2016, many Brazilians assumed government institutions would uphold the rule of law. Leaked audio and testimonies now show Supreme Court, Federal Police, Military and US DOJ conspired together to illegally remove Dilma Rousseff. How many US institutions are working with Trump?
When this information broke the Anglo media reported on a "leaked tape scandal" but didn't translate the most important part: top level government officials planning, "Big deal, with the Supreme Court, with everything" to remove Dilma Rousseff and install Michel Temer.
Last July, leaked messages revealed a year after the start of the #VazaJato scandal show a group of 17 FBI agents held meetings with Brazil's Lava Jato "anti-corruption" task force every 15 days during the lead up to Dilma Rousseff's illegitimate ouster. apublica.org/2020/07/o-fbi-…
On the eve of a neck and neck Supreme Court Case ruling on legality of bypassing the Constitution in order to jail Lula before his appeals process played out and remove him from the presidential elections, General Vilas Boas publicly threatened the Court. agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/en/politica/no…
In 2016, US DOJ backed Lava Jato investigation Judge Sergio Moro worked with Federal Police to illegally wiretape President Rousseff, mixed a few out of context sections showing her and Lula swearing, and leaked it to Globo. Anglo media reported the event uncritically.
I am bringing these things up to shine a light on how coups work in the hopes that there aren't similar processes underway beneath the surface of the Trump administration. A lot of governmental institutions, especially those led by un-elected officials, tend to lean right.
It's relevant to note that it was the Obama/Biden administration's DOJ and FBI that worked closely with Lava Jato to remove Dilma Rousseff and open up Brazil's pre-salt oil reserves US companies. A coup now would be a regrettable "Chickens coming home to roost" moment for the DNC

100 years after inaugurating the first automobile factory in Brazil, Ford announces it is ceasing all production and closing all its factories here. Another massive failure of the Temer/Bolsonaro governments' "Bridge to the Future" economic strategy. Image
Ford Brazil made some interesting cars. My favourite is the Laundau. Based on the 1966 Galaxy with a .279 V8 (from the Brazilian F-100), it remained in production with no modifications for years with an ethanol engine option. My friend had a 1983, ethanol powered Laundau. Image
I try to avoid owning cars, but the first one I ever bought in Brazil was an old, Brazilian Ford Corcel II with it's stock 1.4 liter Renault engine. It was a great, light car for the pothole ridden dirt roads and sand dunes of Maranhão, where I lived for 8 years. Image

Founded in 1901, Butantan Institute became world famous for, among other things, inventing poisonous snake antivenom. Photo: Teddy Roosevelt visiting the institute in 1914. Image
After the results of phase 3 testing were announced on Thursday showing Coronavac to be one of the safest, cheapest and effective Covid 19 vaccines yet developed, Brazilian twitter exploded with humorous declarations of affection for @butantanoficial

Internauts have uncovered an old video of far right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro praising Adolf Hitler. If he had been alive in Nazi Germany, Bolsonaro says, he would have had "no problem whatsoever" enlisting in the Nazi military.
"Professionally speaking, he was a great strategist [...] a General has to be ready to annihilate another country to defend his people," says Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro adds, "My Great Granfather was a soldier of Hitler's. He even lost his arm.”
