Sheldon Adelson’s primary harm, of course, was to Palestinians. However the damage he helped incur to the Jewish world in further making white nationalism palatable to American Jews is as immeasurable as it is horrific.
I cannot even count the number of friendships that have been destroyed, the spaces I’ll never step foot in again. The immense loss of community of home of love the loss I have experienced over the last five years, related to the work of Adelson in tying Israel to Trump.
To be fair, there was always something there. That link between Zionism and American white supremacy. They’re functions of the same system of colonialism. But the way he supercharged it over the last 5-10 years was noticeable and dramatic.
Right wing Jews and Nazis literally marched side-by-side into The Capitol six days ago.
Intersectional analysis that includes race & gender is GOOD! However we need to move beyond that. Class and disability are extremely relevant. As are innumerable invisible distinctions that affect power. The most prudent course of action is to neutralize hierarchies of all types.
Expanding on Kimberle Crenshaw’s analysis is not rejecting it. Adding vectors of power is in its true spirit.
I believe in merging Marxist and Maoist thought to intersectional and critical race frameworks. They are not antithetical.
In the first semester of my Master's I struggled with some email formalities, because I had previously only one job that required email at all and it was not the most professional environment. If somebody did this to me i would be embarrassed and frightened.
Thankfully one of my professors pulled me aside and helped me with what i was doing incorrectly.
Really gotta wonder what’s going on when so many leftists reflexively decide that white Trump supporters are good at heart just need to be adjusted, but Black liberals are the enemy. It’s not just my imagination I’ve been in on here long enough to notice the difference.
Next time Roxane Gay, Hannah Nikole-Jones or Ijeoma Oluo post something awkward, you’ll see what I mean.
Also where did this idea come from that it’s easier to radicalize conservatives than it is liberals? I know wayyyy more liberals who have been radicalized than conservatives. I call bullshit
Look. Anybody mad at banning trump from the platform is a ridiculous, detached mook and not worth listening to.
Q “But it will come down on the left”
A. Shut up! That’s already happening and whether or not Trump is banned has no bearing on your angry tweets at Nancy Pelosi.
Libertarian nonsense with no material analysis has no place on the left.
