Why do I feel like the very social media arrogance that makes it so easy to identify the Capitol invaders will be used to convince more than one jury that the perp wasn’t aware that they were breaking laws?
A fitting echo of Trump never being as harshly judged for what he did in the open than he would have been if he tried to conceal it.
Ignorance of the law is not a defense if you are a black woman unclear of their voting status in Texas. But I’ll bet it works to some degree for some here.
In stunts like ignoring Capitol police or calling for Liz Cheney's scalp, unity pleading Republicans are STILL dog whistling to the mob to stay angry. Their vote of support for Trump was a vote more more division, more violence.
And then to have the gall to leak that they had no choice because they feared for their own safety? Knowing full well that any support of Trump even after he brought us to the brink will be read as support to push us over it.
Bottom line is most Republicans don't want the fever to break because they are the virus.
I think what makes this moment so especially alarming is this time we 100% know there are sympathizers to the terrorist's cause in every agency tasked with stopping them.
And while removing Trump may incite them, I think every day he's in office and they still have hope is even more dangerous.
