I was having a panic attack (I have an anxiety disorder. This is not a euphemism or a metaphor). So I did all the dishes in the kitchen, seasoned and seared some fish, steamed broccoli, made egg noodles, assembled my sons dinner, and ate.
It’s quieter now in my head.
I felt like lying down and sleeping for a few hours but know that’s a wrong answer at 4:30.
It’s good when the terror can be channeled into productive action. And this is why I go to therapy and take medication and built skills to address my mental health needs. Also I’m lucky that — today anyway — cleaning and cooking worked to find the quiet.
I hope that you find a moment to breathe or lose yourself or quiet or whatever it is that works for you. And if you don’t know what works for you, I hope you find it. Mine keeps changing.

Every day we are getting new details about the level of pre-planning for the 1/6 coup attempt and coordination by militia, elected officials, and law enforcement.
And every day Republicans are issuing coordinated fake outrage about metal detectors and losing followers online.
Coordinated fake outrage is a tool that has always worked for republicans before. Something bad happens and the Public recoils, Democrats criticize the people involved, republicans pretend outrage, the media covers both sides seriously, and we revert from consensus to divide.
But because each day the coup details get worse, it a not a playbook that’s currently working.
the coverage of 1/6 from major media has been really good.
an impossibly chaotic event with no briefings from law enforcements thousands of hours of videos streamed randomly in lots of places and a federal government with a strong incentive to muddy the waters and conceal the truth.
and major media has really handled it well.
both print (web) and tv (web). made sense of the chaos. made the scope of the violence apparent. Made it clear how close we came to much much much worse outcomes and that we're not safe yet.
I am the father of a 14 year old with Down syndrome. People with Down syndrome seem to be 5 to 10 times more likely to have serious illness and death from Covid. I need a vaccine to protect him. If the @Twolves_PR get vaccinated before me, it will be the usual rich man shit.
Just entertainers (ps I love sports). Vastly less important than teachers. People who work in grocery stores or food production. Vaccinate LeBron for the PSA then wait your turn.
I don't really like the comparisons to Kristallnacht being made for the ongoing autocoup attempt.
I am pro comparing these fucking fascist terrorists to Nazis. And the concentration camps built by Trump are concentration camps. But Kristallnacht was state-encouraged and permitted mass violence against a designated minority group, not a putsch.
this is a putsch. It's not that unusual in the history of fascism.
