Hard to overstate what a titanic shift we’re seeing: one party and much of the media are engaged in an increasingly organized effort to use private companies - not just tech companies, ALL private companies - to punish people for their political views.
And make no mistake - this is not just about inciting violence. ANY view deeply unpopular to the left is at risk. Ask @abigailshrier.
If you can’t have a Website or an app or get a credit card processor to take your payments or a bank to handle your cash or an agent to represent you... your theoretical First Amendment rights are largely irrelevant.

1/ @CDCgov has released its updated batch of reported Covid vaccine side effect data, through Jan. 8, when roughly 6.6 million doses had been administered. And it is... not good.

Reported deaths per dose are now running at 85x per dose of flu vaccine, and ER trips at 35x... Image
2/ These figures likely are underestimates for several reasons. The number of vaccinations is rising so quickly reports will lag (I use the last-day number of shots given as the denominator). For example, reported deaths rise 5x week over week, while vaccinations rose only 65%...
3/ Unlike other countries, the US has prioritized health care workers, who are younger; the Norwegian data suggests deaths are much, much more likely to follow vaccinations in the elderly...

1/ Let's be clear: those cheery health-care workers saying you should be glad to feel awful after you get a dose or two of the mRNA vaccines because that negative response shows your body is making antibodies and protecting itself from #sarscov2 are telling a half-truth (barely).
2/ In reality, much of the fevers and other immune responses come as the body attacks the lipid envelope protecting the vaccine RNA - and that IN NO WAY helps prime your immune system to recognize the coronavirus. It is a side effect pure and simple...
3/ What proportion of the side effects come from the body's response to the newly created coronavirus spikes (good, at least theoretically) and what proportion from the lipids or other features of the vaccine molecule (bad under any circumstance)?

We don't know...

1/ Hooboy. If you could pick a biotech you DIDN'T want selling a treatment based on unproven technology to billions of people, @moderna_tx would be at the top of the list. Back in 2016 @nature slammed it for refusing to publish peer-reviewed research...

2/ And when people say mRNA technology has been around a while even if the Covid vaccine is new... that's true. The reason it's been around : until OPERATION LET'S GET A VACCINE IN MONTHS NO MATTER WHAT, I mean WARP SPEED, no one had figured out how to make repeated doses safe...
3/ Which is why @moderna_tx was stuck in the vaccine business at all. In the B.C. (Before Covid) era, Big Pharma didn't like vaccines, which are - or should be - one and done treatments. They like drugs dosed over and over again. Then along came the ro!

1/ For the last year, Ireland has had among the hardest #Covid restrictions anywhere. On Dec. 22, it tightened them again - banning all travel between counties, restaurant dining, and on Jan. 1 all home visits (!)

Since then cases have risen 10-fold, a truly parabolic curve...
2/ Yesterday, Ireland reported 8,200 positive tests - equal to ~550,000 in the US.

How can we still be arguing about whether lockdowns work at this point?

Sooner or later, virus gonna virus. And the new strain means it spreads faster among unexposed people...
3/ So places like Ireland are MORE rather than less vulnerable to this kind of event.

1/ Let’s talk about #Covid hospitalizations. Seemingly every day the Covid Tracking Project reports another new high for admitted #Covid patients and the media eagerly (yes, eagerly) reports hospitals in LA and elsewhere are close to collapse.

So what’s really happening?
2/ Okay, let’s look at Arizona. A fair choice - it has more #Covid positive tests and hospitalizations per-capita than any other state. Covid patients fill 60% of its ICU beds. Its hospital executives are sounding alarms. The system must be collapsing, right?

Not exactly...
3/ The first graph is #Covid patients in ICU beds. Scary. They’ve risen almost 10-fold since the low in late September, from ~115 to 1,100. Overall inpatient trends are pretty much the same... ImageImage

1/ Through Dec. 22, with fewer than 1 million doses of the #Covid vaccine given, @CDCgov's vaccine injury reporting system received 307 reports of ER visits and 17 "life threatening" events.

Per dose, that's roughly 50 times the rate of adverse events from the flu vaccine...
2/ In 2019-2020, about 175 million flu vaccine doses were given. 1220 ER visits and 73 "life threatening" events were reported. The data is on the CDC VAERS Website.

Caveats: physicians et al may be more diligent about reporting #Covid vaccine events, since the vaccine is new...
3/ And the data is theoretically updated through Friday Jan. 1, which would be a much higher denominator. However, I believe it is correct to use Dec. 22 as the last date for Covid adverse events because I cannot find any later reports in the system...
