2:30 — Man with megaphone *during* the attack: [D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser] called the National Guard in here to clear us out. The Defense Department told her, ‘No, thank you.’ [crowd cheers]
As you’ll recall, the DoD issued a statement on Jan 7 that, in light of this footage, appears to corroborate the claims made by the terrorists. As well as assertions from Maryland Gov. Hogan.
Since DoD’s original statement, we’ve learned that it took 3 calls from DC Mayor and a FULL HOUR before Sec Army met to discuss the requests, and 1.5 hrs before *verbal approval* for the DC NG was mobilized. DoD omits Maryland’s request.
The first mention of Maryland National Guard troops is at 1555 — more than two (2) hours *after* DC Mayor Bowser’s *first* request for help and approximately 1.5 hours *after* Maryland Gov. Hogan first requested permission to send MDNG into DC

Footage from inside the building as terrorists break in. There’s a person with a megaphone describing the floor plan and instructing them where to go.
I’ll kick things off w/ some hold-overs from yesterday:

🔸 Bad news: case rates are still very high
🔸 Good news: case rates are improved compared to 4 weeks ago
💩 Nope. I will NOT retweet celebrity journalists with huge platforms that link to scoops and breaking news without giving credit to the journalists that actually did the work.
Also, I have no interest in their quote tweets with derivative “analysis”
It’s shameful how these celebrity journalists w/ hundreds of thousands of followers (or more) go out of their way to:
🔸 follow the link to the story
🔸 copy + paste the URL into a new tweet
🔸 string a few words together and post
Why not just R/T? Why not @ those on the byline?
1/ To be clear: I’m not asking anyone to avoid, or to cancel the folks involved. There’s really just a few of them, and they know who they are…and so do their professional peers and colleagues (some of whom follow me)
