@MaxHKaplan @predacle @kkelly80 @JakeSherman McConnell issued a memo to Senate colleagues saying any House resolution on the impeachment couldn’t be transmitted to the upper chamber until Jan. 19 based on the body’s current calendar — rendering any House vote to impeach a moot point.
@MaxHKaplan @predacle @kkelly80 @JakeSherman But McConnell is not doing it
@MaxHKaplan @predacle @kkelly80 @JakeSherman If McConnell did agree to reconvening the Senate, the chamber’s rules still empower lone senators to throw up roadblocks to speedy consideration.
@MaxHKaplan @predacle @kkelly80 @JakeSherman In other words they can buy enough time
@MaxHKaplan @predacle @kkelly80 @JakeSherman Too skid by the process and subvert the entire process. But that's if even Republicans will do it in the first place as they still are the majority. His allies in the Senate will always be his allies no change in their heart so every hour that goes by makes it easier to buy time

@NickNYIslesMets @kiki_cliff @Peaceforus21 @NYCMayor As you say it is unclear but there is little to no legal precedent other than two instances in recorded history the Supreme Court because of how the Constitution is laid out properly and it is written pretty strongly i don't believe at all they will rule anything.
@NickNYIslesMets @kiki_cliff @Peaceforus21 @NYCMayor As a constitution spreads out as interpretive only incumbents a tool that was used literally so America's impeachment law would not be used against private citizens. It is highly unlikely with little to no chance that the Supreme Court will give congressional power that way.
@NickNYIslesMets @kiki_cliff @Peaceforus21 @NYCMayor More likely they will refuse to hear the case.

@kiki_cliff @Peaceforus21 @NYCMayor No sir the Senate can convene until January 19th at the earliest the only reason why they can't convene earlier is because it only takes one Senator to say I don't want to go and they don't go he has way more than one objection number two it's unconstitutional
@kiki_cliff @Peaceforus21 @NYCMayor The Democrats are respected to officially have an article of impeachment finished but they have said they're going to delay sending this article to Senate it's mostly just to score cheap political points and say hey look at me I impeach him twice
@kiki_cliff @Peaceforus21 @NYCMayor Constitutionally you cannot impeach a president that is no longer president when the Constitution was formed it was very strict in Article 2 that it would be different from the Imperial rule of England where a private citizen could be impeached
