The Brihadeeswara Temple, Thanvajur represents the zenith of the Chola architecture. It is built using interlock method where no cement, plaster or adhesive was used between the stones. It has survived 1000 yrs and 6 earthquakes
-The Mandir tower at 216 feet was likely the tallest in the world at the time.
-The other structures built using this method Big Ben and Leaning Tower of Pisa are tilting with time. The temple which is way older has zero degree inclination.
- 1.3 lakh ton of granite was used to build the temple which was transported by 3000 elephants from 60 kms away.
-The temple was constructed without digging the earth
-The Kumbham at the top of the temple tower weighs 81 tons and is carved from a single piece of granite
No world wonder ever comes close to the level of engineering used to construct the Brihadisvara Mandir. There is nothing quite like it and there will never be something quite like it. Raja Raja Chola was a visionary. We must treasure this timeless marvel

The legendary Bheem Kund is a natural water tank believed to be in existence since the time of Mahabharata
To date many have tried but none have been able to measure the depth of Bheem Kund. #Thread
Normally, the natural water tanks of this kind have depth ranging from 5-30 m.
It is said that once scientists had sent their depth sensing camera up to 200 m underwater to find the depth of the pool, but the depth was still way deeper and the camera couldn`t measure it.
In spite of its antiquity, the waters of the Kund are pristine blue with fishes and aquatic life clearly visible.
Further the water level of the Kund is a indicator of natural calamities. When the water level rises, it is an indicator of impending disaster.
On the occasion of #EngineersDay i am writing a short thread on one of the greatest engineering marvels ever i.e Brihadisvara Mandir

Friends, be very careful before donating to so called NGOs. You never really know where the money will end up. There are many cases in point. Alt-News receives anonymous funding of large amounts from "Zindabad Trust" run by Arundhati Roy. Everyone knows her leanings. #Thread
The Greenpeace foundation - the so called environmental champion is alleged by the Intelligence Bureau to have objectives that conflict with the govt’s plans for development and at the behest of foreign donors, they exert every pressure to slow the velocity of Bharat’s economy.
Open Society India, endorsed by Geroge Soros has been under the scanner for the concern that this NGO was alledgedly actively participanting in “protests and rallies of anti-national nature”. Everyone knows George Soros`s open opposition to nationalism as a theory.
A long #Thread on NDTV. Wondering why NDTV is anti-government and pro-leftist. Let's see
Shareholding.
-61% is held between Pranoy Roy (PR) & Radhika Roy (RR)
-RR is the sister of Brinda Karat -member of Communist P.I (Marxist) and husband of Prakash Karat - ex Gen Sec CPI (M)
-PR is the cousin of Suzanna Arundhati Roy. Everyone knows where her loyalties lie.
A large chunk is held by companies linked to former Congress MP & industrialist Naveen Jindal.
Notice the dealogical bias in the shareholding.
Lets see the management team @ShefVaidya@Swamy39
-Sonia Singh - Executive Editor is married to Congress leader Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh.
-Ravish Kumar`s Editor of NDTV Indiabrother Brajesh Kumar is a Congress Leader from Bihar
-Nidhi Razdan Executive editor was alleged to be in an affair with Omar Abduallah
How many of us have heard of Onake Obavva?
She was neither a queen nor a princess, but the wife of a common guard at Chitradurga Fort. She fought the forces of Hyder Ali single-handedly with an Onake (a pestle or a long wooden club). Let's know a little more about her. #Thread
During the reign of Madakari Nayaka in 18th cen CE, Chitradurga, Karnataka was attacked by the troops of Hyder Ali (Tipu Sultan`s father). His army noticed a man entering the fort through a crevice in the rocks. They hatched a plan to send soldiers through the hole into the fort
As chance would have it, the guard Kahale Hanuma who was on duty near the hole had gone home to have his lunch. During this time, his wife Obavva was on guard. She spotted an enemy solider trying to enter the fort through the crevice.
