I wouldn't be doing this if they didn't start.
I'd be making video games or comics and spending time with my baby. It's not like I don't have "better" things to do. I learned "rules for radicals #13" because I had to, not because I wanted to. I reversed it for the same reason.
Rule 13: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. "

Target: Grant LaFleche, Mainstream journalist

Freeze it: Report was misleading, a pattern of bullying

Personalize it: Alicia is being threatened and harassed

Polarize it: Fire him.

Where did I learn this?

I recently referenced Rule 13 in this case:

Target: Mayor Dave Bylsma, Christian conservative

Freeze it: Integrity Commissioner Report

Personalize it: Ed Smith

Polarize it: The Amendments

Target: MPP Sam Oosterhoff, Christian conservative

Freeze it: Family Photo, No Masks

Personalize it: "This causes more deaths!"

Polarize it: Shame him, Force Apologies, Never forgive

And, of course:

Target: Alicia Hirter, "Defiant" business owner

Freeze it: She made a poster, comments got edgy

Personalize it: "Threats and attacks on Dr. Hijri"

Polarize it: a guy clicked like, his group gets smeared

Pretty much the entire "so-and-so did nothing wrong" meme is a response to and rebuke of these #StruggleSession methods.

#MayorDiodatiDidNothingWrong : LaFleche's Halloween struggle session failed to spark because the maskless photo Jim posted was from years prior. Ha!
Rule 13 continues: "Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions."

#NiagarasBestJournalist is a bully. His misleading report(s) led directly to harassment and threats. #FireLaFleche
If you think #FireLaFleche is cynical and unnecessary, take a look through those hashtags.

I'm not the bully here; I have no power like the corrupt media institution.

#NiagarasBestJournalist crosses the line and it drags the entire institutional credibility down with him.
I still respect Allan, John, Ray, Dave, etc. They aren't bullies. I haven't caught them fabricating stories.
But each one of them still turns a blind eye to Grant's abusive pattern. Do they abide by the misuse, and abuse, of the journalistic institution-- for political hit jobs?
A better Bylsma example, as this thread is pertaining exclusively to #NiagarasBestJournalist:

Target: Dave Bylsma

Freeze it: Is he a climate change denier?

Personalize it: Local moms start "for our kids" group

Polarize it : Should he be NPCA chair?
Bylsma has been picked on so much it's hard to choose. Let's see, From top of my head..
denounced for:
- Mom advice/orange juice.
- Didn't wear a mask to photo op.
- Joined Hugs Over Masks Facebook group.
- Made comments on the radio.
- What else?
All that's fine and dandy but what matters right now is Alicia's story as bully victim.
You can disagree with everything I've ever said but you can't disagree with this: LaFleche's misleading report led directly to her receiving threats and harassment. #AliciaDidNothingWrong

The Feb 13 story was a really big lie. It was dangerously polarizing. It was contrived, fabricated, and unnecessary. It was made more of than it had to be. It was fake news. The quote tweets are cray cray

#AliciaDidNothingWrong #NiagarasBestJournalist ImageImage
The impressions created in the minds of the audience are very detached from the reality of the circumstances. The words on the screen carried a symbolic preeminence which deceived many.

Not real.

Some of my thoughts:
facebook.com/groups/wtfniag… Image
Grant LaFleche did not bust a terror cell. He lurked on otherwise-obscure Facebook comments, drastically inflated their importance to print, cynically interpreted them, named each person, smeared local hospitality business advocates, and published it within 2 hours. Image
