Yeah. This isn't Soviet Russia.
If we were told, back in Soviet Russia, that in America a kid or a homeless can freeze to death, an elderly person - starve, we would knowingly smile at our "official propaganda".
Weren't all Americans living just like in Hollywood movies?
In Soviet Russia we were deprived of many things.
Never did my parents have the luxury to worry:

How do I pay my heating/electricity bills?

Will I ever be able to retire?

What if I lose my job?

What if I lose my house?

What if I lose my health insurance?
How do I protect my child from drugs?

How do I protect my child against gun violence?

How do I pay my child's piano lessons?

How do I afford to send my kids to college?

How do we pay for forgrandma's cancer treatment?
We were deprived of 80 varieties of hot dogs. We only had one, called, well, a hot dog.
No Oscar Mayer, no Ballparks, no Hillshire Farms, no Nathan's,
no turkey franks, no mechanically processed chicken franks.
We were deprived of choice of milk too. No 2%, no 1%, no fat free, no Light'n'Tasty, no Organic...

Just milk.

The way it comes from the cow, u know.
We were deprived of Coca-Cola. Like, completely .

Don't even ask. We had to drink juices or flavored mineral water instead. From the glass. No plastic cups or bottles. That's just.....totalitarian. 🥺😉
We were deprived of plastic bags.
It's either "bring your own" or brown paper bags. The iconic "avos'ka", knitted mesh bag, compact and sturdy was the way to go.
Although I think you are catching up with us, finally.
Branded plastic bags from US were so rare, they became a fashion accessory. 😛
"-You know, in America they give you plastic bags with every purchase. Free!
-They are each with store logo!
and even sliced food is packaged in plastic trays!
-What a heaven on Earth" 🤣
We did have to wait in long lines to buy some stuff, sure.
Though not any longer, than your average daily commute. And no longer, that Black Friday lines to buy stuff you don't need.
And talking about daily commute. Commuting in USSR was not about standing still on highway for hours. It was dashing to your closest trolleybus stop few hundred feet from your house and bitching if you missed one and next one is not one minute away.
And for those, who never saw a trolleybus - it's like the electric bus, but running on overhead wire, instead of a battery made with child slave labor. 🤐😎
Incidentally USSR holds the record for the longest line of trolley line - in Crimea, 85 km, two hours.
Oh sure, we didn't have 200 cable channels.
We were completely deprived of talk shows.
Instead of finding out "who is the biological father of that baby",
we were forced😉
to watch popular science shows, chess lectures and classical music showcases. Brutal .🥺😉
We didn't have free press. True.
And toilet paper.
So, our official propaganda rag "Pravda" went straight to the loo. Instead of recycling and bleaching it first, like *your* propaganda rags NYT or WaPo.
And this way it could
make a more- er, lasting impression.
And no. My parents weren't Communist party functionaries or otherwise privileged ones. They were working class folks, proletariat. Their childhood fell on WW2 years, they never went to college, straight to factories.
And don't you tell me, that they were deprived of anything.
"Soviet Russia", a perennial scarecrow of Americans, gave this kid the best music education money can buy.
And if you want to put a price tag on it: piano lesson price NY starting at $69, good teacher $200+
16 years elite schools, piano 2×week.
Top teachers✌️😉

ImageImageImage
ImageImageImageImage

Ladies and gentlemen, you are witnessing the ultimate unraveling of decency, fairness and justice EU institutions claimed to stand for: defending a man, who subjected his adopted daughter to years of horrific sexual abuse, in order to score political points.
Mr. Dmitriev "work defending human rights" is no more of an excuse for his depravity, than all of Harvey Weinstein's Oscars for abuse.
Harvey Weinstein is serving 23 years jail.
Dmitriev i sentenced to
13 years jail - too little for breaking a child's life.
Would esteemed Council of Europe be able to look in the eyes of a child Mr. Dmitriev abused?
Do these photos, taken by Mr. Dmitriev, horrific and repugnant to any normal human being even in blurred version, constitute "Russian government harassment of human right defenders"?

😡 ImageImageImage

Image
Image
ImageImage
