A 95% vaccine efficacy does NOT mean 5% of people who get the vaccine can still get COVID. The efficacy is based on a comparison with the control group. I am begging journalists who write about vaccines to develop basic statistical literacy. I am losing my mind.
To clarify: ~1% of people who got the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine got COVID. None of the people who got covid after the vaccine had to be hospitalized with severe covid.
