shivlingam carved out of single stone
Temple only had inner cell, girbhgriha enclosed by massive ornamental pillars & dome but outer wall & superstructure of temple could not be completed. However, full plan of temple complex is engraved on nearby rocks.

Hoshang Shah, the first formally appointed Sultan of the Malwa Sultanate, was the one who plundered Bhojeshwar Temple. As per recent news Hoshangabad is now renamed as Narmadapuram.
