Look at the sea of people in #Mandalay.

But, sadly people from the cartels side won't see that because they aren't allowed to go out of their military compound and even allowed to talk about the reality outside.

Another sea of people in #Monywa.
If you look closely, you can see the mountains behind. That's called KyaySin, and Latpadaung where #Chinese companies are exploiting for #copper and rare earth minerals. In a few years time, they will no longer exist.
Meanwhile in #NayPyiDaw, the police and military blocked people from #PyinMaNar, a nearby town and arresting anyone arbitrarily on the road.

This lady and her family from Dawei, Tanintharyi region is providing free food for tired protestors. She started it all by herself (funds, cooking) but now more joined her to help. She vowed to do this until Myanmar achieved true democracy.

Fun fact - they speak #Dawei dialet
Although I'd like to end this thread with a happy ending, the reality is not. In #NayPyiDaw, at least 150 people were arrested. Families and friends are still trying to reach them but no one knows where they are at this moment. Mostly are young girls.

So, I had a chat with my long time friend monk who is close to an influential monk. He started off the conversation by sending me this text which was written by a military lobby who knows the weakness of most Burmese monks, the inability to differentiate right and wrong. Image
To give you an abit of context, right now people in Myanmar are not only starting to boycott but also practicing social punishment towards military families and allies as a peaceful retaliation. And my friend monk find it disturbing bcuz they only wanna see peace no matter what.
3/ but what he failed to mention was who is right and who is wrong. He just want people to be peaceful even if the other one is a big bully. This kind of fallacy is very common among burmese monks and conservatives. Which is also the reason why military was able to rule for long.

1/ I don't know much about how military top-brass think that led to this coup.

But I know for a fact that the whole military structure was built upon separating their lives from the civilians apart from power sharing, doing business (MEHL, MEC etc) and asking for budget.
2/ They only live in their own military compound and not allowed to associate much with the civilians. When I was young, my family couldn't afford a motorbike. So with the help of a family's friend in military, I have to take military trucks that send their kids to the school.
3/The kids at my age don't talk and ask much about me and life outside their military compound. They will come to school with their military trucks, study and go back with the same truck at the end of the day. They are not allowed to go out with friends even during or after school.

Looks like the military has made good use of the recently released criminals. Every single townships and streets in Mandalay and Yangon are AWAKE to stop these thugs from looting, arson attacks and even poisoning of public water supply! #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar #Coup13Feb
The military is even using kids as young as 10 years old to create such chaos. In S.Okkalapa township, people managed to arrest one 10 year old and another 13 years old. #Military and #MinAungHlaing are no longer human!
The following two thugs were arrested at #Thingankyun township tonight. They also admitted that they are ex-prisoners with a letter from prison. A methadone bottle is also found on their body.

Thanks to the #Denmark government for openly calling out #military a illegitimate government. This is what #Myanmar people need and we truly appreciate your frank and direct statement on the current situation in #Myanmar!
The following is the statement by the #Denmark gov on #Military coup in #Myanmar at UN Human Rights Council.
But, the @mfa_russia gov says it's just a "domestic affair of a sovereign state and don't need to be so hyped up about what's happening in the country". They also believe that Military is acting constitutionally and therefore urges other nations to not involve." Disappointing.
