Story of Anand Shravak.

Source: Jain World.

There lived a king named Jitshatru in the city of Vanijya. In same city, lived a rich householder named Anand. He was so rich that he had 4 million gold coins, equal amount of cash, had invested an equal amount in trade, in ornaments, & other assets. He owned 40,000 cows. (1/n)
Once, Shri Veer visited this town and gave sermon. After hearing the sermon, Anand decided to accept the twelve vows of a householder. After following those vows for 14 years Anand decided to renounce worldly affairs. He called his children and handed over entire business. (2/n)
After some time, due to performance of austerities, pure mental condition and resulting of purity of his soul, he attained Avadhigynan (Limited Divine Knowledge). It just so happened that Shri Veer & his disciples were in town. (3/n)
One day, while Gautamswami went to collect gochri (food), he overheard people talking about Anand’s poor health, and that Anand had attained Avadhijnan. So Gautamswami decided to visit Anand. When Gautamswami arrived Anand offered his salutation lying in bed. (4/n)
He told Gautamswami about his Avadhigyan & that he could see up to the 12th Devloka. Gautamswami told Anand that though such knowledge was possible for a householder to attain, it would not be possible to see that far. He told Anand that he should repent for telling a lie. (5/n)
Anand was puzzled because he was telling truth. He didn't want to be rude, but at the same time he thought it wasn't fair to repent for telling the truth. So he respectfully asked Gautamswami, “Is it necessary to repent when one is telling truth?” Gautamswami said, “No.”(6/n)
Gautamswami still did not believe Anand, so he went back to Shri Veer to get clarification.GHe told Shri Veer about his conversation with Anand. Shri Veer said, “Gautam, Anand is right. He has attained such Avadhigyan that he can see that far." (7/n)
"How could a person like you make such mistake? You are the one who should ask for forgiveness.” He realized his mistake & went to Anand to apologize. Anand was happy. Shri Veer took the side of truth. He was also happy that great monk Gautamswami, asked for forgiveness. (8/n)
Anand fasted until death and was reborn as a heavenly angel in Saudharma Devalok. After the completion of that heavenly life, he would be reborn as a human in Mahavideh kshetra and would attain liberation from there. (9/9)
