One kid this morning: "I am so sick of school on the computer and I don't want to do it."
Other kid: "I am not putting my clothes on. I don't care if the teacher tells me I can't be naked on Zoom. If you try to put them on me, I'm going to run around."
Me: "If you go to class naked, you'll get reported to the principal."
Kid: "Fine."
Me: "It's cold this morning and you really have to put on your clothes."
Kid: "No. I want to go back to sleep."
Me: "I'm going to call your grandma and tell her that you're not getting dressed."
Kid: "And I will run away from the phone."
Me: "I'm going to toss your roller skates if you don't get dressed right now."
Kid: [pause] Ok fine, but not the long sleeve shirt.
WHO KNEW.

There are people on these interwebs who are mad at me for suggesting that a Congressional hearing into the white supremacist attempted overthrow of the US govt is more important than Tiger Woods crashing his car, and on top of it are saying that if it was Tom Brady I'd care wut
Like I didn't even know the Super Bowl was happening nor who was playing until I saw footage of Tom Brady wandering off a boat drunk.
This is one of the reasons why the final edits to my book include discussions of why it's not enough to leverage your privilege-- you have to actively work to undermine it, and that's gonna feel like loss given our constant inundation as white people with cultural messaging . . .
