8 Most Effective Ways to Overcome Procrastination

“Putting off an easy thing makes it hard. Putting off a hard thing makes it impossible.”

- George Claude Lorimer
If you have a procrastination problem, it's time you stopped running away, too.

Reading this thread won't solve everything for you, but it will provide you with various tools to help you keep your procrastination under control.

Here are some ways to overcome procrastination👇
1. Track your time

Keep a journal about which tasks you perform each day and the time you spend on each.
By recording how you spend your time, you create an internal commitment that makes you more responsible about how you use it.
2. Forgive yourself for procrastinating in the past

Studies show that self-forgiveness can help you to feel more positive about yourself and reduce the likelihood of procrastination in the future.
3. Start small

If you are looking to get rid of procrastination, don’t start with the difficult things.

For example, don’t force yourself into doing things when you know you are unlikely to do those.
Instead, use small increments.
4. Break your work into little steps

Part of the reason we procrastinate is that we find the work too overwhelming for us subconsciously.

Break it down into little parts, then focus on one part at a time. If you still procrastinate, then break it down even further.
5. Tell others about your goals

Tell your friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and family about your projects.
Now, whenever you see them, they are bound to ask you about your status on those projects.

By making it public, you will force yourself to stick to it.
6. Be realistic

As you establish your schedule, set yourself up for success. Projects often take much longer than expected, so bake in some extra time. And look for ways to make it easier on yourself.
7. Learn to say no

Many of the tasks we are postponing are commitments we got because we did not know how to say no.
8. Avoid distractions

The more temptations you have to do something else instead of what you have to do, the easier it will be to procrastinate.
Keep your smartphone, notifications, and access to the internet off when facing hard tasks.
It won’t be easy. No one likes to eat frogs, hence the name!

But if you stick to it, you will develop the discipline it takes to become the successful person you know you can be.

And you will never have to worry about procrastination again.
What’s something you’re putting off today, and what will you do to stop procrastinating?

2⃣ Disrupt

Once you know the cues, you can throw bad habits off track.

If the alarm cues you to bash the snooze button every morning, put the alarm clock on the other side of the room.
