The US House of Representatives is planning to vote on the #EqualityAct this Thursday -- without convening any hearings on the bill. Please contact your representative and senators now: or call Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121!
Not sure what to say? Check out the thread linked in first tweet.

You can also adapt this sample letter and send it to your policymakers using -- it will just take a few minutes and women's rights are riding on it!…
The long and short of it? The #EqualityAct contains long-overdue protections for LGB + T people. But as currently written, this bill would *eliminate* sex as a protected category under the law by redefining sex as an identity, not a biological reality.
That removes protections for female people who continue to experience discrimination & violence on the basis of sex. This redefinition also erases the basis for same-sex attraction, undermining the very protections for sexual orientation that the bill claims to enshrine.
Fortunately, we don't have to choose between women's rights and LGB + T rights. We can protect sex under the law -- but only if we #AmendTheEqualityAct to protect sex, sexual orientation, and transgender status separately. Here's how:
Equality doesn't look like this. Please write to your policymakers now and ask them to #AmendTheEqualityAct to protect sex-based rights that women and girls need and respect that sex -- not gender identity-- is the basis for sexual orientation.

Shallow but this is basically my ideal academic conference dress, assuming we ever go to those again. (I am very easy to find -- or, I suppose, avoid -- at conferences.)
Also -- and I can't tell you how much I wish this were not still taking up space in my brain -- didn't Rory Gilmore wear this dress?
Now embarrassed I spent five minutes of my one and only life looking for it. But yes, sadly, I was right.

I feel like the clue here is "they're lesbians."
'Theoretically trans-supportive but doesn't like penis' is a creepy way to put this. Sounds a helluva lot like 'theoretically supportive but still won't accept girlcock.'
I think we all know what lesbians walking the talk would look like, according to this subset of trans activists.

Another trend... have noticed this taking over many nonprofits as well: the focus of the org becomes less about the people or causes it was created to serve and more about catering to staff sensibilities.
And there's an extent to which it's totally legit to, say, provide support for people working on domestic violence. That work can be traumatizing and lead to burnout. But the org doesn't exist to support the staff but rather to support women experiencing domestic violence
Policies to support 🏳️‍🌈TQIA+ identities are a huge part of this. Through my own work, I know organizations that focused on policy change or practical solutions for clients a few years ago that now emphasize their work on TQIA inclusivity for staff.

How I became a 21st-century heretic/social pariah—and you can, too!

A thread on questioning gender ideology.
Something didn’t seem right to me. I had that feeling astronomers must have when they’re scanning the skies for black holes, looking for the point around which everything behaves strangely.

When I looked at trans activism, everything around it behaved strangely.
Maybe it started with “transwomen are women.” Whenever I asked what that meant, I found a great many people who either didn’t know or didn’t care what it meant and yet thought it was a very important thing for people to say they believe.

That wasn’t reassuring.

Yousaf is so far out of his depth it's unreal.…
And Scottish women are going to pay for it.
The debate over this bill so perfectly foreshadows the threats to free expression ahead. Policymakers hesitate to even *clarify* what can and cannot be said, for fear of inciting the rage of trans activists.

Today would be a good day to affirm that redefining women from a sex class to a class based on subjective gender identity—and reassigning our rights and policing our speech on that basis—hurts women and girls.
More on how rewriting the law to recognize gender id by erasing sex harms women and girls -- and makes it more difficult to identify & fairly adjudicate conflicts that arise -- here:

This is why we need to #AmendTheEqualityAct. Democrats plan to reintroduce the #EqualityAct February 22. Your senators need to hear from you now:
