An influential Labour group, which has Croydon North MP Steve Reed OBE among its directors, is under investigation by the Electoral Commission after failing to declare more than £800,000 in donations within the time required by law #StarmerOut #LabourLeaks insidecroydon.com/2021/02/20/mp-…
There are “Multiple” potential breaches of electoral law by Labour Together, an organisation with close links Sir Keir Starmer. Steve Reed, a former deputy chair of the Blairite Progress party-within-the-party, is one of five current directors of Labour Together. #StarmerOut
A former managing director of Labour Together is Morgan McSweeney, who is now Sir Keir’s chief of staff. Steve Reed, despite representing part of a borough where its Labour council has gone bust, is the communities and local government spokesperson in Starmer’s shadow cabinet.
They say that they are cooperating with the Electoral Commission to assist them in their inquiry. Which sounds very much like they’re bang to rights. Which is a bit awks, Starmer being a lawyer and all.

Steve Reed nor Starmer’s office responded to invitations to comment.
Labour Together has become a highly influential group under Starmer.
Susan Hawley, Executive Director of Spotlight on Corruption, told Insider: “Full and timely transparency in electoral funding and donations by all parties is critical to trust in elections and in politicians.
An Electoral Commission spokesperson stated: “The donations to Labour Together published this week were reported to us as part of an on-going investigation into the Members Association.'' #StarmerOut #LabourLeaks
Steve Reed is one of five current Directors of Labour Together, Lisa Eva Nandy, Sir Keir Starmer's Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs since 2020 is also a director. #StarmerOut Full list here - …te.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/096309…
Labour Together’s most significant donor to date was revealed by ‘The Bureau investigative journalism website’ as Martin Taylor, who was a Mayfair hedge fund manager having then given £600,000 to the party under the leadership of Ed Miliband.
For two years, from 2007 to 2009, McSweeney worked for The Campaign Company, the Croydon-based consultancy set-up by David Evans, who is now the Labour Party’s general secretary. #LabourLeaks #StarmerOut insidecroydon.com/2020/05/19/new…
David Evans is a former close aide to Tony Blair and has been running locally-based consultancy The Campaign Company. #LabourLeaks #StarmerOut
The Campaign Company’s website boasts that it can help “elected representatives, candidates, organisations and issue-based groups who now need a more professional approach to successfully campaign to get their message across”. #LabourLeaks #StarmerOut
A year after David Evans’ role as AGS ended, the new General Secretary David Triesman announced that there would be an inquiry into the conflict of interest. When asked why his wife had been made company secretary when he founded the company, David Evans said “I can’t remember”
Deputy Leader of Croydon Council Alison Butler has close family ties to David Evans and has been involved in decisions to award contracts to his firm, The Campaign Company, without declaring a conflict of interest. #LabourLeaks #StarmerOut
Contracts worth almost £200,000 were awarded in the space of four years to The Campaign Company.

David Evans is the father of Alison Butler’s daughter from a relationship in the 1990s and Alison Butler’s son from another relationship is also employed by The Campaign Company
Ms Butler was criticised for failing to declare this conflict of interest and the quality of the work conducted by The Campaign Company has been called into question. #LabourLeaks #StarmerOut #FordeReport
The Company also conducted a review of Derbyshire County Council which led to the press officers being made redundant and replaced with Julian Ellerby,. Ellerby was Labour’s Director of London Region while David Evans was Labour’s Assistant GS. The two were former colleagues.
