New thread just for #Scrivener COMPILE tips. This is one of the most frustrating things to master, so it's hard to tell what's basic and what's more advanced so I've just put together most of what I know.
#Scrivener (17/?) Within my Manuscript master folder here, you can see I have four drafts. When I get to Compile, I can choose first which draft I want to work with - let's choose my A Draft. I have it split in 4 acts and I only want Act 1 right now... 
#Scrivener (17.1/?) By default, every section is checked when you go to compile. So, to grab only Act 1 right now, I'm going to uncheck every section under that heading. Then click on FILTER and select "Excluded Documents".
#Scrivener (17.2/?) To get Chapter headings, make sure each doc is defined as Chapter in Section Type. By default, they are filed as Scenes. If you use folders as Chapter grouping, you can keep scene for docs and designate the folder as "Chapter Heading"
(17.3/?) Another filter option that I use more often is Filter by "Progress" which will be the color label dots I've applied to each documents. This way I can easily export only my green/finished docs and ignore everything else without checkmarks.
#Scrivener (17.4/?) Just a note but every time I have a compiling woe, it's almost ALWAYS something I fucked up with the filter tool. Either I forgot to clear Excluded/Included or I have something else still filtering.
#Scrivener (17.5/?) To transform font for entire compiled document, click that "Determined by Section Layout" above the preview. **NOTE** this can often erase your italics, so be aware that you'll need to proof your formatting in the exported file.
#Scrivener (17.6/?) The Format you've chosen on the side will determine how chapter headings display. Default will reproduce your doc names as the chapter title, but Manuscript will instead name them "Chapter One" and drop your titles.
#Scrivener (17.7/?) Don't like any of the formats provided? You can create your own that is exactly what you want! This will let you change where page numbers appear, change those section separators (###) and when/how they appear, and more!
#Scrivener (17.8/?)You can also "Duplicate and Edit" any of the provided formats, so if you like everything in a certain format "....but" you can easily customize. e.g. I like Modern but want to include page numbers that's an easy fix.
(17.9/?)There's also a nifty "Replacement" tool you can build into the custom format that will find any word you want and auto-replace it with something new. Always case-sensitive and "whole word" which will prevent some wackier replacements.
(17.10/?) In each Format settings, you can also choose things like remove highlighting and deleting whitespace. You don't have to make a custom format to access these simpler tweaks.
The beauty and also the worst part of #Scrivener is that literally everything can be tweaked in some way and it's superrr overwhelming.
