Here, President Biden begs states that have lifted mask mandates to put them back in place. Based on his assumed 'logic,' you'd think that states that have lifted mandates or never had them were drowning in dead bodies and overcrowded hospitals. Is that the case?

THREAD:
Wait two weeks, they always say. Well, Texas ended its statewide mandate well over two weeks ago. By now, hospitals and funeral homes should be overwhelmed, right? Nope, not even close.
Georgia never had a statewide mask mandate at all. At this point, things there should be pretty close to an apocalypse that makes "The Walking Dead" (minus the zombies) look like child's play. Or not.
Tennessee, my state, never had a mask mandate either. Sure, we had something of a casedemic, but things also never got close to getting out of control - and the curve has been more than flattened. How on earth did this happen without a statewide mask mandate?
Mississippi also lifted their mask mandate over two weeks ago, but cases continue to decline like the masks never had anything to do with it.
South Dakota never had a mask mandate and is widely considered the most maskless state in the union. Yet, their recent curve is remarkably flat (this is similar to surrounding Montana and North Dakota as well). It's almost like viruses are gonna virus, regardless of what we do.
On the other hand, masked-up New York is leading in new cases and hasn't really had much of a downswing. It seems like if masks were the answer, New York would be doing better, doesn't it?
Same with mask-loving New Jersey. These two states (New York and NJ), by the way, also LEAD THE COUNTRY in deaths per million. People always say that without masks things would be worse, but truly, how much worse could it get than #1 and #2?
Sure, we could see some spikes here and there (generally it's geographic and seasonal), but thanks to vaccines and natural immunity, deaths are declining and should continue to do so. If people aren't dying & hospitals aren't being overrun, why are we worried about cases anyway?

The mind-numbingly frustrating cognitive dissonance all of us on Team Reality feel every day of this nightmarish insanity might be eased a bit if only our COVID overlords would answer a few questions they, to this point, seem to constantly and purposefully avoid.

[THREAD]
Other than early mistakes with nursing homes, how did Sweden manage to get through the pandemic on par with and in some cases better than many other European countries WITHOUT any lockdowns or mask mandates?
(If one of your answers to the above is Norway, you'll need to try again because they didn't mandate masks either.)

Two-thirds of Indians have SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. TWO-THIRDS. How many establishment narratives does this absolutely demolish? Oh, how about, uh, ALL OF THEM?

(THREAD)

indianexpress.com/article/explai…
India was a house on fire in May. Now, the curve is almost all the way down (Farr's law). How did this happen? Was it vaccines? Well, since only around 5% of the country's population is vaccinated, the answer, in this case, is 'nahin na.'

PS - Have you heard of 'herd immunity'?
How much of a difference did social distancing make? Since the seroprevalence rate for urban vs rural areas was essentially the same, probably not a ton. Plus, there's the fact that TWO-THIRDS of Indians caught the 'ro.

The mixed messaging, the incessant demands to keep the same useless measures over & over again despite real-world data that they aren't working, the refusal to acknowledge the most obvious evidence if it contradicts their agenda, but most of all, the ever-shifting goalposts ...
It's all so befuddling to us normal people, but it can be explained by one thing:

Our overlords have secretly (or not-so-secretly) joined a CULT.
That's right. The powers-that-be long ago joined the 'Zero-COVID' cult, a shadow, sinister group that focuses on the insane belief that human actions can somehow eliminate COVID-19 from the planet.

It's "popular," the Irish Times declares.

The question that should always be asked to those who defend COVID restrictions is, "How long?"

They'll inevitably tell you, quite indignantly: "As long as it takes."

YOU: "As long as it takes for what?"

THEM: "For the risk to be really, really low."
YOU: "But the risk has been 'really, really low' the entire time, especially now with numbers dropping."

THEM: "But people are still getting sick. People are still dying."

YOU: "But humans have always died of viruses, and most COVID deaths are already super old or super sick."
THEM: "But TOO MANY are dying & have died."

YOU: "How many are too many?"

THEM:

YOU: "So, what you're basically saying is that restrictions are acceptable until COVID disappears from the planet. And since that will in reality NEVER happen, you're talking 'forever,' right?"

As you may have heard, the Czech Republic is currently getting slammed by COVID cases right now. After worldwide praise for its early hard lockdown and strict mask mandate, the country peeked its nose out and now the virus is, well, virusing, as viruses are prone to do. Image
In an article earlier this week, CNN inexplicably blames the surge on the relaxing of mask rules over the summer, as if the virus would have stayed away if only they had continued with the masks (forever?).

It also says they are reinstituting mask rules.

cnn.com/2020/10/20/eur…
Except, the mask rules the country imposed late this month have to do with wearing them outdoors & in cars (as if that'll do the trick LOL). As Ian Miller aptly points out, Czechia had already reimposed masking indoors on ... wait for it ... September 1.

The outright falsehoods in @maddow's critique of @SWAtlasHoover, @realDonaldTrump and herd immunity (written up in this piece by @SarahBurris) are beyond staggering. Here are just a few ...

rawstory.com/2020/09/rachel…
"Weeks later, when South Dakota became the worst state in the country for the spread of the virus ..."

Really? SD had a case bump at the end of August (a ghastly 425!), but has trended down ever since. Now, they are 21st in cases/mil (below the nat'l avg) and 41st in deaths/mil.
"The “herd immunity” idea was first tried by Sweden when the virus got to their country. It didn’t work, and they were forced to abandon it."

Wrong. Sweden never went "herd" per se, but they did emphasize "sustainable" measures that could keep the economy and society intact.
