When the first No Fly Zone ever placed on Nigerian airspace it was largely nothing more than political symbology. The NAF had no means of enforcing the No Fly Zone. Yes we could detect hostile aircraft from ground based radars. But intercept them? No. ImageImageImageImage
For anyone who buzzes into closed off territory, the fighter jets and persistent radio calls are usually enough to intimidate them into behaving. If not, things step up a notch. If it becomes clear that the aircraft has hostile intent, they will get permission to engage. ImageImageImageImage
In a hypothetically scenario, if enemy aircraft had violated this No Fly Zone there was nothing Nigeria could do about it. The only fighter interceptors we had were in China undergoing extensive upgrades. Fast forward weeks later...today. ImageImageImageImage
Nigeria can theoretically has the platform needed to enforce the No Fly Zone. The JF-17 fighter/interceptor. Yes there is no air defence Squadron yet, but at least theoretically the NAF can scramble fighter jets to intercept hostile aircraft. ImageImageImage
These unforseen and coincidental cirsumstances gives creedance to the fact that the fire brigade approach to security is one big gamble..on the premise "it will not happen here". Nobody gave a thought about No Fly Zone in Nigeria before. But here we are.

The Nigerian Air Force, army and local authorities are coordinating search efforts for the Alpha jet that disappeared from radar. Search efforts on the ground and in the air continue with search helicopters and ISR aircraft deployed. Image
So what do we know. The Alpha jet was on a close air support mission for troops. This means there was request for air support from troops. This means it was flying towards a hostile environment.
It could have crashed in a very remote area with no cellphone service. But the fact the Alpha jet went missing near the Nigerian border suggest something sinister. There was no Mayday broadcast. No communication from the pilot. It just disappeared from the radar.

SPECIAL TRIBUTE to the most Iconic aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force.
NAF Alpha Jet force has been routinely employed in combat air patrols and conducted countless air strikes against Boko Haram militants over a number of years
In 1990, four Alpha Jets were deployed in support of ECOMOG forces in Liberia, which were engaged in combat with the NPFL. In a series of strikes, these aircraft launched successful attacks upon Charles Taylor's HQ, rebel convoys and shipping, and gun emplacements at

I have always worried about the significance of Boko Haram having access to anti-aircraft missiles ever since an aid to Chadian President Bhacarat Gnoti was caught by border guards with 19 SA-7 shoulder fired anti-aircraft missile he was to deliver to Boko Haram in 2014. ImageImage
The significance of Boko Haram having their access to these weapons cannot be overlooked. Nigeria needs to be on highest security alert with securing of its northern borders against penetration of arms and fighters from our surroundings. Nigeria needs also reevaluate
It's ties with so called stake holders. I am not saying the plane was shot down. But you cannot deny the possibility that Boko Haram will seek to aquire SA-7 and SA-24 shoulder fired surface to air missiles in lieu of incoming A-29 and JF-17 warplanes.

After leaving decapitated bodies strewn around the streets the BBC is saying

"Mozambique's insurgency grew out of local people's grievances at feeling marginalised and discriminated against by their government."

The western media is no surprise making excuses for criminals. ImageImageImage
No one is denying pervasive corruption in Africa. But it is the standard practice of rewarding every terrorist attacks by putting the blame on the government. Terrorist acts hardly get the reputation they truly deserve..."cowards". They are portrayed as disgruntled individuals
..tired of corrupt practices leaving them no choice than to pick up arms. A terrorist attack on the West is a grievous crime against the free world. The terrorists are called barbaric. World leaders lock arms and match down the streets in a show of solidarity.
