Health Insurance simplified:

Do 're-tweet' & help us educate more investors

A Thread 🧵👇
What is health insurance?

Health insurance covers medical expenses that arise due to an unforseen illness. These could be related to hospitalisation, cost of medicines etc

(1/14)
Why is health insurance important?

Health risks and uncertainties are a part of life

With the constant increasing prices of healthcare, insurance today is a necessity.

Health insurance provides people with a much needed financial backup at times of medical emergencies.

(2/14)
Which type of health insurance to buy?

A comprehensive insurance plan must be bought i.e.

There should be no
1. Co-pay
2. No room rent limit
3. No sub limits on any specified disease

The pre existing waiting period should be clearly mentioned

Lets discuss each one:-

(3/14)
Co-Pay:-

Copay is the share in the claim that you would be required to pay each time there is a claim.

For eg:
If your policy has a 20% co pay.

You will have to bear 20% of the bill everytime there is a claim

Co-pays are undesirable and should be avoided

(4/14)
Room rent limit:-

Across many policies, insurers apply “room rent limit” which not only restricts the type of room you may have, but also also the associated medical expenses like surgeon fees.

Room rent limit can severely hamper your access to quality healthcare.

(5/14)
Sub limits on specified diseases:-

Insurers apply limits on some major life style diseases so that the claims are in control.

For eg there is a limit the insurers apply on Cataract and Hysterectomy.

One must be aware of sublimits that the insurer has put in the policy

(6/14)
Pre existing disease(PED):-

If a person suffers from any PED,insurer will not cover any illness related to that disease for a specified no of years called waiting period.

In the waiting period any claims arising out of the that disease will NOT be paid by the insurer.

(7/14)
No claim Bonus:-

Suppose in a year if u don’t make any claim the insurer rewards you with a No claim bonus by increasing your insured value.

The quantum of increase is pre-defined and can be from 10-50%.

Similarly the insurer downgrades the bonus in case of a claim.

(8/14)
Re-instatement of sum insured:-

A policy can offer multiple reinstatement of the sum insured in case of claims for multiple diseases.

For eg:-

A 10L policy

If you claim for 5L for disease A

The Insured sum available is reset to 10L in case the claim is for disease B

(9/14)
What type of insurance do u buy if have a family of 4?

You buy a family floater plan!

A family floater is a plan which covers the entire family on the payment of a single premium

The sum covers the entire family & can be used in case of hospitalizations in the family

(10/14)
For Eg:-

You buy a 10L family floater policy for the entire family.

The total cover will be 10L and can be used for any family member in case of any hospitalisation.

These plans are much cheaper to buy rather than buying policy individually for each member!

(11/14)
How to build a 1cr cover?

The cheapest way to build a 1cr

Build a base policy of lets say 10L

Then buy a SUPER TOP UP plan of 90L which a deduction of 10L

A super top-up plan covers the total of all hospitalization bills above the deductible amount

(12/14)
Hence, once the deductible is paid, the plan becomes active for subsequent claims

Therefore after claims of 10L are paid from the base policy. The super top can be used to pay any further claims that may arise.

Such plans are much cheaper to buy.

(13/14)
Conclusion:-

1. Buying a health insurance is very very important.
2. Buy a clean comprehensive policy
3. Be careful of agents
4. Make clean disclosures while buying the policies
5. Know the clauses while buying a policy

(14/14)

Hit the 're-tweet' & help us educate more investors.

A Thread 🧵👇
1/ A niche business model with a focus on complex molecules that are either FTF or PARA IV.

What is FTF/ PARA IV?

For that, let’s get the basics cleared.
2/ A generic drug is a copy of the patented molecule which might look different optically, however, works the same way.

When the patent expires, generics enter the market.

A Para IV/FTF is a way to enter 1st among the generics & also get a 180-day exclusivity.

We have been hearing about Non-Fungible tokens or NFTs a lot recently, therefore we thought let's shed some light on it!

In this thread, we will cover -

Fungibility
Bitcoin v/s NFTs
NFT sales
Applications
Advantages
Concerns

#LearningswithJST

Let's go 👇
First, let’s know what fungibility is.

It refers to the ability of an asset to be exchanged or substituted with similar assets of the same value such as currency.

you can exchange 5 notes of Rs 100 for 1 note of Rs 500. The value is Rs 500 (despite being in another form)
NFTs are the opposite of that

Each one is unique and can't be substituted for something similar

Think of the Mona Lisa painting - an original piece of art. It can’t be swapped for a poster of the same painting from a gift shop because the poster doesn’t hold the same value

Have pan-India distribution presence with Birla white (Sold also at paint outlets & 2nd largest distribution in the industry): Will find synergies.

Red Flag: How will they copy Asian Paints Innovation DNA, operational efficiency, Inventory & supply management

2/n
Risk: Distribution of paints is from plant to dealers & for Birla white, it is from the factory to distributor to dealer. Totally different.

Answer: Birla white has a strong relationship with the dealer. What's the incentive?

No answer on the tinting machine Entry Barrier.
