Today on the Birth Anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, I wish to narrate how our hero was treated by the Government then.

One of the several reasons, Sam Manekshaw was treated badly, is mentioned in the tweet below 👇🏽

When Dr.Abdul Kalam was the President, he visited Coonoor. On reaching, he came to know that Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw was in the Military Hospital there. Dr.Kalam wanted to visit Sam, which was unscheduled. Arrangements were made.

At the bedside, Kalam spent abt 15 minutes talking to Sam & enquiring abt his health.

Just before leaving Kalam asked Sam "Are you comfortable? Is there anything I could do? Do you have any Grievance ? or any requirement that would make you more comfortable?"

Sam said "Yes Your Excellency, I have one grievance". Shocked with concern & anguish , APJ asked him what it was .

Sam replied "Sir, my grievance is that I am not able to get up & salute the most respected President of my beloved country".

Dr. Kalam held Sam's hand as both were in tears.

But the remaining part of the tale with regards to this meeting is the most essential part.

Such was treatment given to war Hero by the Governments in power.

An aghast President went to Delhi and passed the pension with arrears within a week and sent the cheque of nearly Rs.1.25 crores through the Defence Secretary by a special plane to Wellington, Ooty, where Sam was ailing.

That is the greatness of APJ. But then Sam received the cheque and promptly donated it to the Army Relief fund.

That was the greatness of our real hero Sam Manekshaw.

All religions and all ideologies (eg: communism, liberalism and so on) are a part history and a part myth.

As for religious myths, the academic types might want to read Joseph Campbell's book, "The Power of Myth". Image
I put down below some quotes of his :

1. Each myth is psychologically symbolic. Its narratives and images are to be read, therefore, not literally, but as metaphors.

2. Myth is much more important & true than history. History is just journalism & you know how reliable it is.
As far as ideologies are concerned, their mythology lies in their tall claims about their success in the real world. As we all are aware, this whole ideology of communism has proved to be just a myth as it has failed everywhere.

Towards the end of the spring season there is a shift towards more expansive energy. Long days & warmtemperatures will see pitta dosha rising within the system resulting in more outgoing energy & a desire for fresher and more cooling foods.
Pitta contains the properties of the fire and water element, but the former is more pronounced. Thus, Pitta regulates all metabolic processes in the body as well as body temperature and our hormonal balance. Hunger, thirst, and even intelligence are associated with Pitta.
Pitta is balanced by a diet of fresh, whole foods (both cooked and raw) that are cooling, hearty, energizing, comparatively dry, and high in carbs. These foods calm pitta by decreasing internal heat, preventing inflammation, balancing the digestive fire, & grounding the body.

Tomorrow is Shitala Saptami.

Shitala Saptami is an important Hindu festival dedicated to Goddess Shitala or Shitala Mata.

She is known to be the Goddess who cleans all the viruses (Quite relevant today). Her mythological stories have been mentioned in Skanda Purana.
It is observed twice in a year, once during the ‘Krishna Paksha Saptami’ (during the waning phase of moon) in the Hindu month of ‘Chaitra’ & the second occurrence is during the ‘Shukla Paksha Saptami’ (during the waxing phase of moon) in ‘Shravana’ month.
Shitala’s name means “the cooling one”. With the change of seasons and coming of the hot period, it is essential to emphasize the importance of hygiene for human health.

I'll divide the thread into two parts:

Part I : Effects of Moon and it phases on us and

Today I'm just quotating someone's words. Let's see how many of us recognise this man.

Real Hero of Bharat!
At about 2.30 in the afternoon, General Sir Roy Bucher walked into my room and said, "Eh, you, go and pick up your toothbrush. You are going to Srinagar with V P Menon. The flight will take off at about 4 o'clock". I said, "why me, sir?"
We are worried about the military situation. V P Menon is going there to get the accession from the Maharaja. I flew in with V P Menon in a Dakota. Wng Cdr Dewan, was also there. But his job did not have anything to do with assessing the military situation.

Dr. Anandibai Joshi

Upon her birth on 31 March 1865 she was named Yamuna, after the holy river. Her parents Gunputrao Amritaswar Joshee & Gungabai Joshee came from a long lineage of wealthy landlord family in Kalyan of Bombay Presidency, whose wealth was now waning.
Anandi was the sixth of 10 children, & had 4 brothers (only two of which survived) & five sisters. Her father was particularly fond of her, as she was a bright child with an inquisitive mind. Being an educated man himself, Ganpatrao assured that his daughter was taught Marathi.
As was common practice she was married at a tender age of 9, to Gopalrao Joshi, a 29 year old widower who worked as a postal clerk in the same city. After marriage her husband named her ‘Anandibai’ (which means ‘Joy of my heart’).

Thousands of flamingos migrate to Mumbai every year between the months of October & March before flying out around June.

They arrive from the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat and Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan, some even from Iran and Israel.
A census by the Bombay Natural History Society in January 2019 had counted 1,21,000  flamingos in Mumbai then.

Besides the Navi Mumbai creek, environmentalists have noticed a huge flock of flamingos at Thane Creek, Uran, Panju Island and Vasai, as well.
One major problem is obviously the destruction of wetlands. This thread isn't about that.

From around 2016 onwards, the local fishermen started spotting injured and wounded flamingos mainly in the parts of Uran, ( Raigad) and Palghar (infamously famous).
