And the people stayed home
and read books and listened
and rested and exercised
and made art and played
and learned new ways of being
and stopped
and listened deeper

someone meditated
someone prayed
someone danced
someone met their shadow
and people began to think differently
and people healed
and in the absence of people who lived in ignorant ways,
dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
even the earth began to heal
and when the danger ended
and people found each other
grieved for the dead people
and they made new choices
and dreamed of new visions
and created new ways of life
and healed the earth completely
just as they were healed themselves.

sorry, deleted the end because the poem was misattributed. It was from last year, not 1919.

Still feels right today. 🥰

Swapping this week's broccoli & cheese soup for...broccoli & cheese quiche. Really living on the edge here. 😂
also making smoked salmon, garlic shrimp, potato torte (excited! see link below), brownie bites, almond & orange madeleines, & probably focaccia. We're having one family over for an outdoor Easter. So excited/relived. fattoincasadabenedetta.it/ricetta/torta-…
oh, and surprising absolutely no one, Hubs is insisting that the CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN make its grand debut.

It's time to play our favorite game: is this a bad analogy or a bad parallel case? Reminder: analogies compare relationships between two things; parallel cases compare the two things themselves.
What are we trying to compare?

long lines: voter suppression
long lines: ride suppression

voting: Disneyland
Let's see: do long lines suppress the vote? Sure! Some people won't wait, so they won't vote. It's an "added cost" to voting.

Do long lines suppress rides at Disney? Sure! Same, some people won't wait, so they won't ride. Even if willing to wait, they won't ride as many rides.

This is what y'all should be talking about. That VaxPass* story is a distraction.

*branding it now, that's what it'll be called
The agenda-setting wars continue. Rightwing has been winning for a long time.
Hey, Hey pass the FPA!

Who is for the people? We are, we are!

I went to the insurrection and all I got was this self-incriminating t-shirt.
*and arrested.
I want to write a whole book about how these yahoos broadcast their crimes to the world. Bespoke self-incriminating t-shirts! 😂

<whispers> I think I might go to work in my actual office tomorrow. First time in more than a year. I'm nervous/excited. Also have to find my keys. 🙄
Update: found my keys!

I’m hoping that if I go there, then I can write. It would be so great to write.
My office/desk is covered in things related to my last book project. I'm gonna have to move Trump outta there to make room for my new book.

I don't mind that part. Buh-bye.

Love that Biden said that he was elected to "solve problems."
He said it again, "all I know is that I was hired to solve problems, to solve problems--not to foment* division."

*i'm not sure what word he used there
Also love that he made an aside in an answer to @Yamiche that he knew that she understood what he was explaining and he didn't mean to imply otherwise when he said something like "it's important to understand..." Changed it to "focus on." Respect.
