The set of things that stop being transparent when they're not working out:

(a.k.a. if you thought Heidegger was talking about hammers, i got bad news for you)
Happiness - if it is actively cognised, you probably don't have it
Sanity - if it is actively cognised, you're probably afraid of not having it
Time - if it is actively cognised, you're not living within it

Ok so i'm getting REALLY PISSED with the whole 'life optimization' mindset/movement and explaining why will require a bit of esoteric phenomenology (doesn't it always?) but let's give it a shot:
So, first, a PHENOMENOLOGICAL HORIZON. Here's the wikipedia definition. Basically, this is where you exist. It is NOT physical material reality around you, its the context of all your relationships, projects, hopes, ambitions, worries, all your BLAH about yourself and the world.
I say BLAH because in one sense its like Gendlin's "..." or the "Dao". By giving it a name you extract it from and differentiate it from the rest, but I mean precisely 'the set of all the rest'. That which you differentiate and extract *from*.

In this spirit, I now think that the Hero's Journey is a metaphor for predictive coding. Thread:
So first, I'm NOT SAYING the ancients knew neuroscience or whatever. I'm NOT SAYING that the intertwined serpent depictions mean the ancients knew about DNA. NOT what I'm saying. Here's what I'm saying:
The structure of the hero's journey abstract from the phenomenological structure of human experience in a way that matches the way the brain fundamentally works. This makes sense insofar as the latter creates the former (as we'll see). So what's predictive coding?

Remember when it didn’t feel dirty to say human race
How outdated does it feel to say “there’s only one race, the human race”
Fascinating “I don’t see color” has become a dogwhistle

Thinking about something I can’t name yet:

one way I got fucked was over analyticity + lack of perspective. The analytical zoomed in mode was fucking me over and others could see this from the inside but, given experience, I was more proficient in it and thus they couldn’t ...
enter the system and give me an argument that would take me out.
They couldn’t give me perspective on the way I was going about things / being because the way itself precluded that.
Now I was lucky bc the system I was in was one such that eventually I could see it’s limitations and transcend it *from within the system itself*

This is how you win. This is what Elon figured out. Don't work against social signalling, work with it: don't bash people's head in with what makes sense, just convince them it's high status.

High Status Nuclear Power wenn?
Ok, pilling myself (again) that this is our core problem: the lawlessness and unreasonability of the manufacture of status
