A Leader, Commander, and a guiding beacon that led an entire nation and her armed forces — Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa was the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Army.

Let's us check how Chacha treated this Hero.
Sadly just two months after Partition, Pakistan Army sent infiltrators into Baramulla area. The Maharaja of Kashmir on 26th of October, 1947 signed the Instrument of Accession to the Union of India. Indian Army urgently shifted to Srinagar to defend the territory.
A lot of delay was caused by Mountbatten, the Governor General of India & by the PMO’s Office in giving a green signal.

Gen Cariappa managed to shift the Indian Army by air in nick of the moment. The Indian Army successfully repelled the attack & drove back the infiltrators.
BOTH GEN CARIAPPA & GEN THIMAYYA WERE READY TO TAKE BACK THE "Pak Occupied portions of Kashmir", but UNFORTUNATELY PM NEHRU DECLARED CEASEFIRE WITHOUT CONSULTING HIS COMMANDERS. During the battle with these razakars, the Indian Army managed to kill 900 of them.
At this very moment, General  Cariappa was transferred to New Delhi away from the field of action!

As if it were not enough, the PM even remarked that the Army as an institution could be dispensed off and that the Police Force would more than suffice in any emergency!
Adding insult to injury, Nehru issued an order to reduce the Army strength from 2,80,000 to 1,50,000! By January 1, 1949 Nehru declared a ceasefire — if not for this abrupt cessation to fighting, General Cariappa was confident of taking back all the lost territories.
In spite of this, General Cariappa conducted clandestine covert operations in Ladakh and thus secured it for India.

Today these INC jokers politicize the death of our Jawans but forget their own past.

Connecting to my previous thread on "Myths and Mythology", I thought it was the right time to get into the Archeological evidence on Mahabharata.

Are you ready?
1. Senior archaeologists at the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) claimed that the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata could date back to 1500-2000 BCE, instead of 900-1000 BCE (Obviously, it can't be without evidence).

The claim follows the findings at the excavation site of Sanauli, 68 km away from Delhi, includied “war chariot” allegedly driven by a horse, a rusted bow & arrow, a burial site and ochre coloured pottery, war shields, whip, torch and an antennae sword with hilt.

My today's Sanskrit lesson :

महासुभषितसंग्रह :

आशा  नाम  मनुष्याणां  काश्चिदाश्चर्यशृङ्खला  |
यया बद्धा प्रधावन्ति मुक्तास्तिष्ठन्ति  कुत्रचित्  ||

The life of those people bound by an invisible chain of hope & insatiable desire is affected in a very surprising manner. Those who are bound by this invisible chain run amok, but those who are not bound by it are found to be relaxed & contented in all circumstances.

All religions and all ideologies (eg: communism, liberalism and so on) are a part history and a part myth.

As for religious myths, the academic types might want to read Joseph Campbell's book, "The Power of Myth".
I put down below some quotes of his :

1. Each myth is psychologically symbolic. Its narratives and images are to be read, therefore, not literally, but as metaphors.

2. Myth is much more important & true than history. History is just journalism & you know how reliable it is.
As far as ideologies are concerned, their mythology lies in their tall claims about their success in the real world. As we all are aware, this whole ideology of communism has proved to be just a myth as it has failed everywhere.

Today on the Birth Anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, I wish to narrate how our hero was treated by the Government then.

One of the several reasons, Sam Manekshaw was treated badly, is mentioned in the tweet below 👇🏽

When Dr.Abdul Kalam was the President, he visited Coonoor. On reaching, he came to know that Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw was in the Military Hospital there. Dr.Kalam wanted to visit Sam, which was unscheduled. Arrangements were made.

At the bedside, Kalam spent abt 15 minutes talking to Sam & enquiring abt his health.

Just before leaving Kalam asked Sam "Are you comfortable? Is there anything I could do? Do you have any Grievance ? or any requirement that would make you more comfortable?"

Towards the end of the spring season there is a shift towards more expansive energy. Long days & warmtemperatures will see pitta dosha rising within the system resulting in more outgoing energy & a desire for fresher and more cooling foods.
Pitta contains the properties of the fire and water element, but the former is more pronounced. Thus, Pitta regulates all metabolic processes in the body as well as body temperature and our hormonal balance. Hunger, thirst, and even intelligence are associated with Pitta.
Pitta is balanced by a diet of fresh, whole foods (both cooked and raw) that are cooling, hearty, energizing, comparatively dry, and high in carbs. These foods calm pitta by decreasing internal heat, preventing inflammation, balancing the digestive fire, & grounding the body.

Tomorrow is Shitala Saptami.

Shitala Saptami is an important Hindu festival dedicated to Goddess Shitala or Shitala Mata.

She is known to be the Goddess who cleans all the viruses (Quite relevant today). Her mythological stories have been mentioned in Skanda Purana.
It is observed twice in a year, once during the ‘Krishna Paksha Saptami’ (during the waning phase of moon) in the Hindu month of ‘Chaitra’ & the second occurrence is during the ‘Shukla Paksha Saptami’ (during the waxing phase of moon) in ‘Shravana’ month.
Shitala’s name means “the cooling one”. With the change of seasons and coming of the hot period, it is essential to emphasize the importance of hygiene for human health.

I'll divide the thread into two parts:

Part I : Effects of Moon and it phases on us and
