Martin Geddes has posted a newsletter, which he calls “an intellectual bitch-slap”.

It's his usual mix of self-pity, self-righteousness, and self-sucking; reminiscences of the many times past when he was right and everyone else was wrong; and A FUNNY BIT…
I slogged my way through the 2,500 word essay so you don't have to.

A short thread to show you what you're not missing:

Geddes's story begins on the “cusp of profound changes in human society”. If that sounds familiar, it's because he's been riding the same cusp for years ImageImageImageImage
Although Geddes is tempted to write about his track record of being heroically right about Q, he's prepared to leave that story for the books that will be written about him in the future. ImageImage
Instead, Geddes writes about his track record of being heroically right about telecoms.

“What was special about the work I was doing was that I helped to build bigger ‘conceptual universes’ to understand what unarticulated ‘thinking limits’ were preventing progress.” Image
Geddes claims that the difference between him and his big, right brain, and the little-brained, wrong fools around him is that he would “LOOK AT THE DATA” and they had “NOT LOOKED AT THE DATA”

(Geddes doesn't show the data, so we have to take his word for it that he's right.) Image
A FUNNY BIT from Martin Geddes on April 5, 2021

“Is “Q” a military intelligence operation, or is it not? Who is Q? And why is this identity question verboten in the mass media?”

Anyone? ImageImage
Geddes might be short-sighted when looking at himself, but he has 20:20 vision in hindsight.

In retrospect, he clearly sees that Q Platoon needs “a necessary space of a few months to run The Bidan Show while the clean-up […] operation happens in secret”

Behold how his vision improved from before the election, when a Trump landslide looked inevitable, to the period immediately after, when the lights came on for him.

Who knows what terrifyingly bright visions he might see next? It makes me sore afraid just thinking about it. ImageImageImage
“Trump isn't just going to win in a landslide, it will be a complete planetslide”

Trump loses by 8m votes

“everyone who has NOT LOOKED AT THE DATA […] has now set themselves up for the most epic fall due to their unjustified pride.” ImageImage
Martin Geddes has an ego like a @MapedHelix_UK ruler: shatter-proof ImageImage

This is the story of “who did it“, but the ‘it’ is so vague as to be meaningless. The connections are similarly tenuous. The whole thing is unfalsifiable, which disqualifies the story from the category of things which are true. It is, however, bad.
Here, “Of course we know” is used to avoid making a specific claim. This is bad. Image
Here, “the same people” is used to mean “other powerful people”. This is either sloppy thinking or deliberate conspiracist sleight of hand. Both are bad. Image

Here's why I'm not convinced QAnon was part of a plan:

Q first posted 170 weeks ago. It isn't clear what effect the QAnon phenomenon has had on the US body politic. The world has changed a lot over the last three years, but it's impossible to know how much Q changed it.

Even if we were able to know what difference Q had made to the last 39 months, nobody could have known in advance the way things would work out.

Trump had no track record, and abandoned many long-established political norms even before an unprecedented global pandemic.

But for the sake of argument, let's say that someone, by some miracle, could have predicted back in October 2017 precisely how Q's 5000 posts, and the movement which developed around them, would change the world.
