And I'ma just say it, I've never been negatively affected by someone self dx-ing in any capacity.

If they think they have a condition I have I'm gonna give them the resources (if they'd like) that helped me instead of sitting on my high horse punching down.
Like "oh you think you might have ME? It's hard navigating the info on it. If you want I can send you stuff that helped me make sense of it.'
"looking into EDS? There's multiple types and it can be confusing figuring out what is what, if you ever want help looking into it, let me know. I support you."
"that condition didn't end up being the correct one? I know how frustrating that can be. I'm here to vent to or give advice, whatever is more helpful to you."

I've self dx'd myself about 6 times and it all ended up correct and formally dx'd later after months & years researching but I was misdx'd 3 times by professionals who spent the entire appointment talking over me and not listening to me so I don't wanna hear shit against self dx.
Sorry but it's a privilege in an of itself to think that you can always trust medical professionals to know what they're talking about in regards to you, actually listen to you and treat you like an actual human being.
If it weren't for my own research and self advocacy, I would still be undiagnosed having my times wasted.

Okay Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist touched on the whole Deaf parents trying to "fix" their Deaf children rather than accepting them thing and I wasn't expecting this, especially the push for the Deaf character to be her own advocate instead of her dad holding her back.
The daughter talked about how her dad wanted her to try cochlear implants and speech therapy and how that made her feel and how different it was for her to be with other Deaf people who accepted her.
They did a weird inspiration thing for a split second but otherwise I'm at least glad it went this route. They really made sure to enforce her autonomy.

Remembering the time my former best friend walked off and left me by myself in the middle of my first con where I was already terrified of being around so many people and I got lost.
It's truly so surprise how the friends crashed and burned with the way I was repeatedly mistreated.
