The game here is to call it an "infrastructure" bill so that people think it's actually about infrastructure and when called out, claim this is infrastructure. They could have just skipped to the chase and called it a "paid leave child care bill." What's so hard about that?
This one makes no sense to me. No one thought an infrastructure bill would be about paid leave and child care. Not one person. Just do a different bill for this stuff. Why is this difficult?
Look, you ram things into unrelated bills when you want to hide them. Why would they want to hide these issues? These are their bread and butter and are fairly popular, generally.
I will confess to being proudly terrible at this kind of nuts and bolts politics. I hate it deeply and thoroughly and I am way too blunt for this kind of bullshit. So, it's entirely possible I'm missing something.

Periodic reminder that the "fire in a crowded movie theater" trope came from a case in which a socialist was being prosecuted for handing out leaflets during WW1 saying the draft violated the 13th Amendment. The case was later partially overturned and is now considered bad law.
Imagine thinking now that someone can't hand out leaflets criticizing government policy. Just stop saying "fire in a crowded theater." STOP.
Also, shout out to Woodrow Wilson, the most despicable and fascist of all our Presidents, for that bit of authoritarianism.

A lot of people got things wrong and it's precisely because the situation was new and foreign. Some didn't get the benefit of the doubt and still don't.
The raw politicization of everything associated with this has been among the most disgusting things I have ever witnessed in politics.
Accusing fellow citizens of murder, demanding complete obedience to dictates so that even questioning their wisdom put you "on the side of the virus," wishing death on people who didn't want to comply, calling FDA approved drugs killers, throwing away science for politics.

You cannot be intelligent and Michael McFaul at the same time.
No one is required to shoot anyone if they own an AR-15. This should be obvious, but apparently, it has to be said.
I honestly do not understand why this particular rifle is imbued with some sort of magic power.

Yes, a bunch of Biden voters are against changing the EC and the Senate and DC's status. Really great point, Jacob.
It's astonishing to me that people think eliminating the filibuster will give citizens more power. That is just laughable on its face.
The honest truth here is that all of these people know perfectly well that making these reforms will entrench their political preferences and they are lying to you or themselves to justify it.

I actually admire French for jumping in to that Clubhouse discussion about him and taking lumps, but I am genuinely curious about where he draws the line on this. Does it only apply to him? Is the Right the only group using terror to gain power?
This is what he said. Ask yourself if this is really solely the province of the Right. Image
Are people who are targets of the Right the only ones suffering real world consequences? Because I am pretty sure someone like Star Slate Codex has a few words to say about that.

I don't care what you mean, but do not talk about this like you are the boss of me and what I can and cannot do. You're not.
"Here’s what you cannot do. Also, please get vaccinated!"
There is no beating the virus. There is containing it and minimizing spread. Anyone talking about us not getting back to normal until we beat the virus is immediately suspect.
